“Superior tapas bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

Rated on food alone, Pata Negra and Duende vie with each other for best tapas bars in Perth. Pata Negra would win on creativity and uncompromising quality, Duende on location, price and charm.

“Splendid friday evening!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2012 via mobile

We visited on a friday night at the first sitting at 630pm, two couples with a nice corner table. Staff were very friendly and attentive, the wine options were very varied and interesting, if a little on the exxy side. We opted for the "feed me" option at $89 per head and the chefs offering started to arrive, some classic tapas in reasonable portions, the highlight was the black rice and also the albondigas. Dessert tasting plates were very yummy but we then had to move off our table at about 8pm but the staff found us a little spot to finish off our wines. Not a cheap evening by anyones standards but good quality fare and reasonable portions and nice staff.

“Very good food but oh so pretentious”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2012

If you love quality alternative food (I don't regard Tapas as mainstream) and don't mind waiting, not being able to read the menu (in Spanish - no translation), the noise and crowding and are happy to pay an arm and a leg, this is for you.
Yes the food is very good, but the rest of the experience would put me off going again. And did I mention that the service was not helpful (i.e. did not seem knowledgeable) with either the food or wine.

“Delish!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2012

I've been here a number of times over the past couple of years for lunch on a Friday. Really tasty tapas. Certainly on the expensive side. Each time I come, the kingfish is done differently, but always delicious! The Arroz Negro is really nice though, I'd probably prefer MoViDa Aqui's version. The fabada with duck confit, pork and chorizo is really yummy- soul food. Pretty good to be able to order Spanish wines by the glass. I've done this usually with some guidance of the staff- and have had some really interesting wines wines as a result. To finish off,the connamon donuts with Pedro Ximinez icecream is just divine.
