“Best way to spend wet windy miserable day in Perth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013 via mobile

Perth has really turned on some dirty weather of late so we opted for Perth's Famous Wine Tour upstream on the Swan with Captain Cook Cruises.
Well rewarded with a great day out where the weather conditions didn't affect us. Well skippered by Narelle with not OTT commentary supported by great crew in Jess & Colleen who entertained us the whole day. No shortage of wine tastings on board until lunch at Sandleford Winery that was also superb. Short tour of winery followed by excellent lunch and unlimited cellar door tastings. Never felt rushed with great attention from Jacob at Sandleford and the girls on board. Minor quibble with the coffee service - lose the instant rubbish and invest in proper espresso machine. Great day recommend to anyone.
Thanks Narelle, Jess and the fun gal Colleen for making a fuss of my mother. A real hoot, do it

“Great day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We went on the Captain Cook swan river cruise on Saturday. The weather was horrendous so we thought it may have been cancelled. The cost included lunch and unlimited wine or beer plus water and soft drinks. We were unable to visit the wineries because the water was too high but the staff on board were great. We were in a booth of our own so we had plenty of room. The food was well organised and quality was quite good. Towards the end of the cruise, the male member of staff entertained us with his singing. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that he had a really good voice.
All in all we really enjoyed this trip and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

“Very pleasant day cruise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Australian friends treated us to a cruise from Perth to Sandalford Winery, lunch there, and the cruise back - seven hours in total.

The boat was clean, seating spacious, and crew very helpful. The captain gave a commentary full of facts and anecdotes about the history and usage of the Swan River, and pointed out wildlife - very interesting. The return journey was marred by awful weather - obviously not the crew's responsibility! We continued the wine tasting, and had cake and tea or coffee. "Live entertainment" turned out to be the youngest member of crew singing schmaltzy soul songs, walking round the cabin and singing directly to passengers - a bit too full-on for me.

What the split of cost between the boat and winery elements was, I don't know; total cost for the day was (according to the company's web site) $165.

“Potential to be great with a little tlc!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

The boat was tired the furniture sticky and the filthiest chairs I have ever seen. The staff were yawning and laying their heads on the bar the entire way back to Perth from Fremantle. The boat was full so why not reinvest some of the $ to make it an acceptable experience again. Commentary was repeated on both journeys - would have been great to have different commentary. Staff were clearly bored and showed it.
