“Great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2014

TransWA a offers a great and quick service. It's pretty easy to get around and that quite frequently. Also the tickets are affordable consider the distance you could/can ride on the train. If you wanna save a few bucks, get a SmartRider (card), top it up with money and use the "tag on/off" facility. That makes it easier and you don't need to think what zone you might need to buy.

I love that train service, as those trains are clean. No spilled food and drinks and it smells alright in those trains as a result of it. Also I give it a thump up to the TransWA advertisement on the train, as those ones are quite smart and made with a good sense of humour.

I definitely recommend to use TransWA, as you will see cars queuing up in the rush hours for 10s and more kilometres, not going anywhere! Also, it's possible to relax on the train which in addition offers a fantastic air-con-service and view.

“Easy and fast-good for people watching!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2013

Perth metro area has good trains sadly not linked to the Airport. It you have a station close to you use it! Faster than cars without parking hassles.

Europeans need to use cash -international credit/ debit cards don't work- duh! Don't bother the staff they are busy chatting!

Beware the network suffers poor signage with limited retail at stations. Check your zones and leave plenty of time for the auto ticket machines slow and overly complex. Some cannot be read easily due to the sun!

Great for people watching the late afternoon trains ex Perth centre let you see a lot of "body art" WA must have the most tattooed population in the world!

“Easy way to get around!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

The train services in Perth run on time (occasionally there are track problems which cause delays) and can take tourists for interesting day trips to places such as Fremantle, Armadale and Mandurah. At Mandurah boat trips on the Estuary can be very interesting and relaxing.

“Excellent Service For The Suburban Expanse”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

Perth is one of the largest cities in the world not by population but caused by an out of control suburban sprawl. (Area is bigger than Tokyo, London & Los Angeles combined) For a smaller populated city ( Perth has less than 2 million) this has caused nightmares for the city planners who are trying to placate all comers. But speaking purely for the tourists the city of Perth caters beautifully for those who want to get around and about fairly cheaply compared to city transport costs in both European and American cities (London is ridiculously expensive). The train service extends over 100 kms from Joondalup in the northern suburbs to Mandurah in the south and Midland and Armadale 30 kms to the East. This is a big area to cover and when linked to conjoining bus services, all are fairly well catered for. In the city precinct, for the tourist there are CAT buses which are free of charge which will get them to most sites in the city area and the 50km or so either north or south by rail is both cheap and convenient. When compared to cities such as London, New York, Hong Kong etc there is no comparison but when compared to cities of a similar population Perth commuters and tourists would have very little to complain about. All the stations along the route are clean and at this stage reasonably grafitti free. (I have just returned from Europe and Grafitti is a disaster on the public transport systems). I make extensive use of public transport both in Perth and when travelling overseas and value for money and clever usage make Transwa a cheap and easy mode of transport particularly for the visitor who knows how to use it. All information and schedules are easily obtainable on website and are extremely easy to follow.
