Owner description: Perth's favourite playground, the Swan River is a stunning waterway which winds its way from the Darling Scarp to Fremantle. This natural attraction is popular location for Perth locals and visitors to enjoy a day out boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, swimming, picnicking or simply enjoying its vista.Rich in environmental and cultural values, the Swan River was named Derbal Yerrigan by the local Aboriginals who believe that the river was created by the rainbow serpent ‘Waugal’, a dreamtime spirit taking the form of a giant snake. It is believed that the Waugal created creeks, waterholes, lakes and valleys on its journey to the ocean.

“Worth doing”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2014 via mobile

Sail down the Swan river to see the sights of Perth. Captain is very informative and humorous too and invites passengers to join him to inspect his footwear! You see some magnificent houses and coves along the way.

“Superb Swan River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2014

Friends took us out on their boat from Fremantle. We spent the whole day cruising the river with stops for a bbq lunch and various dives in the refreshing water. The only set back were lots of jelly fish in various locations however we managed to escape all of them. The coast line is lingered with beautiful villa's and in a distance you can see the high rise of the CBD. Since there are no real waves and ample space it is a nice area for a relaxing day.

“Golden Sun Cruises, Perth.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

My wife and I took this cruise to Fremantle. What a disaster. They were late and the crew looked like they had had a big night out and when we finally departed they forgot to take the ropes off the jetty. On the way we were supposed to have a commentary but not a single word was spoken. When we arrived at Fremantle they were unable to moor the ferry. A tourist, who was asked to assist was abused by the Captain because he dropped a rope. Never again, I'd rather swim than go with this mob. We had a return ticket and because they wasted so much of our time we decided to get the train home.
A terrible, terrible experience......

“Love our Swan River”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Growing up on the Swan brings back such great memories of netting prawns, eating on the shore, swimming with other families. Sadly this memory is only my generation but there is so much pleasure to be had on the swan river. Swimming, boating, fishing, crabbing. You can swim in clear water around Mosman Park (from boat) or catch a bounty for the table. The condition of the Swan is looking so much better and this is great news for future generations.
