“Bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2012 via mobile

Went for dinner, the food was terrible, like mass produced function food the decor is cheap and tacky, on the plus side the staff is very friendly and the setting is nice. The owner does reprimand staff in front of everybody for no reason. We wont return

“Average and uninspiring menu, pretentious attitude but gorgeous setting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

This is like most restauramts in the Swan Valley where the steady stream of tourists leads to overpriced and average food.

The menu hasnt changed in a long time, and it looks like the chef found the recipes in a New Idea issue from 1999. The daily specials were underwhelming. It was an issue taking our pram to the outside balcony, our baby was 8mths and well behaved but you could tell the owner/manager had an issue and we got given some line about tripping hazard or some rubbish. We insisted anyway and the service from the wait staff was good.

The food was executed well enough but underwhelmed. The setting and venue is beautiful although I rcall the decor was tacky and cheap.

“Excellent Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2012

My wife and I along with another couple, friends of 41 years had lunch today at the Mallard Duck in Henley Brook in Western Australia just to catch up with each other.

This was the first time that I have been to this restaurant as it is a bit out of the way for us but is in the Swan Valley region renowned for its restaurants, wineries, boutique breweries and cafes.

It was an extremely hot day, 41 c, but the restaurant itself was reasonably cool. It has an inside air-conditioned room, verandah room and an external marquis for wedding etc. It can hold 80 on the inside, 110 in the marquis and probably 20 - 30 on the verandah.

The service was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. The price itself was not unreasonable given that all restaurants in Perth are a bit over the top with pricing and a bottle of wine cost between $20 - $22 per bottle.

The lunch menu whilst not extensive looked very appetizing and reasonably priced. Both couples chose to have garlic bread and a seafood platter for two which contained fish of the day, prawns, scallops, oysters, squid rings, octopus and salad. The meal was excellent with a score of about 9 out of 10 as it was a bit moreish. To follow there was a variety of desserts including tiramisu, lemon meringue,, sticky date pudding and broullie to name a few all of which were very tasty and well prepared.

All in all the dining experience was very enjoyable, staff were competent and new their stuff and the owner - manager was extremely friendly. Would I go again most certainly and would I recommend it to my friends most certainly. It is worth a visit if you are ever in the area and are peckish.

“Do not waste your time”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2011

This would be one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time.
The food was average and that is being kind, the service was average, the owner reprimands staff in earshot of clientele, all in all not a pleasant evening
