I stayed in 6 bed female dorm. Most of the girls were staying in Perth working and were really friendly. Its true the dorm had no window in the wall but there was an electronically controlled skylight. Open it for air an freshness! Everyone at the hostel was really friendly and staff were incredibly helpful and always made themselves available. Everyone at the hostel, including guests was 100% trustworthy. The building is old and as a result its never going to be 100% spotless immaculate..thats the nature of older buildings. There are cleaners there every day and they do a great job. If you wonder in the kitchen just after everyone has cooked dinner hen ye, it will look messy. I did not get great sleeps due to the usual hostel thing of doors clicking shut. There is a free breakfast every day of bread, porridge and plenty of spreads plus free tes coffee and hot choc. Its only a 5 minute walk to perth central.

Room Tip: Ask for what you want and the management will try to get you in the right room.

On entering the hostel it was lovely to see fresh flowers in reception. The hostel is clean and welcoming with a happy ambiance. The kitchen is closed for cleaning twice per day and the breakfast is a huge bonus. Stayed in the double en-suite room for four nights (flowers here too). It can get noisy at nights during the weekend, but it's to be expected as most people staying here are young travellers.
Steve and his staff are helpful and friendly.

I have stayed in over 100 hostels around Australia, and this was the worst. I booked a girls only room. Upon entry, it was disgusting. Mess everywhere from the other girls, and smelt awful. There were old sheets left on my bed, but I sorted that and after dinner, I got into bed to watch a movie. Twice, a girl brought a guy in and had sex with him. Then from 10pm until 7am, guys were in and out of the room, screaming and shouting and acting like fools, even though it was no entry for guys. I had no sleep at all, and when i tried to complain to staff, their attitude was "ah well". I now work for a backpacker travel company and I warn every customer not to stay there after that incident. There should be a member of staff on duty at all time, not just office hrs. Oh, i forgot to mention the dried up used tampon on the shower floor.

Impressed by the cleanliness of the hostel. Not a big place but friendly enough and good location. Staff were helpful. Good sized kitchen and lounge with plenty of dvds on offer if you just want to chill out. Breakfast is included which is a bonus but have to provide your own milk which is annoying.
Its a hostel, so its not perfect or luxurious in the slightest. But for what you pay its not bad at all.
Quiet on the weeknights as most people are working but bit more of an atmosphere on the weekends, still not exactly a party hostel though.
A few d-bags around but it is what it is, it comes with the territory, you have to take the good with the bad.
Overall, I'd recommend this hostel if you're after simple clean accommodation. However be warned, their online booking system can't be trusted. I made a booking request a week prior to my arrival but on arrival they had no record of my request and told me their website had been faulty for weeks. So they didn't have a bed for me on my first night, luckily I had a friend nearby I could stay with.

The backpacker is situated across a park - nice for lunch, not so great at night with some drunk indigenous occupiers.
The rooms are ramshackled, the people living in them often noisy, but very friendly. So is the staff, which makes up for it's down sides. Free breakfast is a plus!

I have been travelling Oz for a year now and have stayed in many hostels, many good and bad.
I absolutely loved one world simply for the service which is give star, Natalie on reception is simply a gem ;) &Steve the owner is around to help you with anything!
They have a garden, living room with huge TV games consoles a great fire to curl up in front of, internet and guitars for you to play. The hall way is immaculate, my room was great lots of homely touches inside from bedside lamp to dressing tables curtains around the beds and even cost hangers in the lockers room 1 rocked and the girls I met were awesome!
The bathrooms were sooooooo clean and every shower was a hot shower :)!
The kitchen is a decent size with cutlery pots and pans All supplied, microwave toaster kettle even an OVEN other hostels don't have this. There's tea/coffee supplied for free even free breakfast. There's huge fridges to store all your food the kitchen is always clean. Outside has a table area for drinks etc its great.
They also have washing machines / dryers.
It's warm cosy clean and full of nice travellers most people stay along time due to the great wow factor been there, I recommend it to all I will definitely stay again.
For the price you have too choose Oneworld why waste time going to horrible places? Trust me it's the best hostel in Perth!

After being disappointed by another hostel in the vicinity, my experience here was refreshing. The rooms were spacious and clean, and people generally kept to their own spaces. There was a
friendly and relaxed atmosphere (I thought I was back in Albany), and I got to know some nice people. Yeah, the legendary "drinking table" was there but I had no problems with it. The toilets and kitchen were very clean, as they have strict cleaning periods that occur daily. The lounge gave a warm and homely feeling with cable and plenty of movies to pass time. The computers worked well. Although supermarkets are quite far away, the hostel is near to restaurants, pubs, bottle shops, and the train station, but just far away from the associated noise.
