“Don't pay the Rack Rate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2009

We stayed for 2 nights leading into a Kimberley camping trip and another 2 nights on return. We booked on a booking site at $170pn with guaranteed room upgrade and got a very nice room in new section on top floor overlooking the park to the ocean. Fridge ice section totally frozen over though and sink part blocked. Told them and presumably this was fixed after we left. Tried to book ahead for another 2 nights 12 nights later and was told $250 and no discounts. Went to an internet cafe and booked at $190 with another guaranteed upgrade. Annoyed with this pricing attitude and would have booked elsewhere but no comparable value - Broome accomm not cheap.
Restaurant average and expensive. Staff there good.
Overall the hotel was value for the money (when you pay this rate) and being opposite Matso's boutique brewery/restaurant with quite a good pool and only a 15 to 20 minute walk into Chinatown and the centre.
I agree with another reviewer that the Noodlefish Restaurant is great and trying all the flavours of beer at Matso's is a must. Chilli Beer?? You've got to be kidding.

We booked the "poolview" room because we were told they are the renovated ones. We were allocated a room whose entry door faced the staircase and the sliding door faced the car park. The "poolview" was non-existent by any stretch of the imagination. As we were only there for the 1 night, at first, we did not bother to change rooms. However the slamming of the car doors from the car park became a problem and as we had an early start the following day we changed to a room upstairs. When we advised the receptionist about the problem she said we were given a special rate as it was usually $360. This is untrue as the rate appplicable then was $250.

We were very happy with our room which overlooked a pool. It was modern and comfortable. Happy with location. We arrived late on a Sunday evening although in time to have a roast at the reasaurant. Not cheap, nothing to rave about. Not hot enough but staff were obliging in heating my meal up. We were being picked up early next morning so we ordered a breakfast to be delivered to the room late that evening. We were given bread but there was no toaster. Very expensive breakfast!!

We stayed here for several days after an 8 day camping trip in the Kimberleys pretty disappointed overall. Yes it has a nice pool and shady garden/bbq area good for relaxing. The rooms were small and tired, breakfast was fine but otherwise avoid the dining room and take advantage of the bbq facilities to self cater. Staff pleasant but hopeless for information. 15-20mins walk in 35C is not what most would consider "walking distance" to shops etc . If you are looking for an overnight before a trip fine but for a longer stay would think you could do better elsehere.

We stayed at the Mercure for a week and had a fabulous time. It was a great place to relax and unwind after a hectic day of sightseeing or simply sitting by one of the pools at the hotel. I particularly liked the fact that we were away from the hectic pace of Cable Beach but still close enough to walk into Chinatown. We were also a short walk to Matsos which was a real bonus and make sure you go to the Noodle Fish for dinner and enjoy their delicious green paw paw salad. Our room was fabulous and overlooked Roebuck Bay. I would recommend that you request one of these rooms as some of the others out the back were less appealing. Don't rely on the day bed for an adult to sleep on, it was ok for my friend as she is vertically challenged but I would not have coped. Great staff, always willing to help. Loved my stay at the hotel!

Stayed as part of a group. Hotel is probably one of the larger in Broome, and gets a lot of groups: dining rooms etc are set up for big volumes of people, but all is clean and friendly. Appears the hotel has expanded by building a 3-4 star annexe onto the original 2-3 star standard small town motel. Consequently standard of rooms in our group varied wildly. We had pool room on 'old' motel - very good, but friends had standard room with view of blank wall. Confirm room standard before arrival! Also, Accor on line booking rates fluctuate greatly - ours went down twenty percent after we had booked (,mnths ahead of stay) and we had to cancel and rebook to get the new rate.

We stayed here for a 2 nights in June. The hotel room we had was clean but unfortunately opposite the guest laundry so we had some road noise on one side and noise from the laundry on the other. We weren't staying long so did not ask to be moved but if you were staying for a while make sure you don't get this room.
The staff were all very nice and helpful.
