“Disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Although I have been told the villas are nice. The other rooms are over rated. They are just a bedroom that is usually attached to the villa. Which are separated by a locked door. The pool is lovely. But there is no cafe except for breakfast. So no drinks or snacks can be purchased throughout the resort. The nearest place is a 1.5 km walk. I tend to like to be able to stay in my resort not go out for everything. Won't stay here.

The Guest Rooms are promoted as a 4 star equivalent short stay option and are perfect for the more budget conscious guest. Guest Rooms are a motel style room with small outdoor balcony, large ensuite with walk in rain shower, 15 free foxtel channels on a 32 inch digital lcd tv and have all the other facilities you would expect within this style of room. We also offer a daily complimentary continental buffet breakfast for our guests staying in the Guest Rooms.

We have a beautiful onsite breakfast cafe that over looks the main infinity pool. The Pearle Cafe is open daily from 8am until 10.30am for breakfast and then from 10.30 until noon, it is open for non-alcoholic drinks, coffees, teas and packaged snacks. Non-alcoholic drinks and snacks are available from 8am until 8pm in our resort shop. So contrary to your statement, there are actually options to purchase onsite, ‘drinks and snacks’ right throughout the day. We are also looking into options for a liquor licence in the near future.

There are also at least 6 different food and beverage venues within 15 minutes walk form the Pearle and we are very happy to make recommendations for our guests.

Kind regards,

My husband and I, and 2 adult friends recently spent 10 days at this lovely resort in a 3 bedroom pavilion. It was perfect for our needs. The facilities were very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed being able to have our own kitchen facilities, especially the outdoor BBQ area. The private 8m pool was used every day and very well maintained. I note the comment by management that they are to provide umbrellas for this area -that would be a welcome improvement as it was quite hot in the midday sun.
The privacy afforded by the pavilion setup was fantastic. We hired a car to get in and out of town and had no problem parking in front of our place apart from occasional access difficulties because of the gardener's truck (mind you the gardens were beautifully maintained). The staff were friendly and efficient. We booked a side trip through reception - easy. We had an ongoing maintenance issue with one of the toilets, but that was unobtrusively attended to as soon as we reported it.
Yes, the cost was expensive (about $800 a night), and yes, there was only one service during the 10 day period (access to more towels would have been better -especially given they had to be used for the pool too) ... But generally our experience at the Pearle was brilliant!

Loved the concept of the Pavilion but being used to 5 star accommodation we were rather taken aback with the lack of servicing. We had to wait 4 nights for a change of towels and sheets. Only an old broom and little dustpan and brush available, would have appreciated a vacuum cleaner or a daily clean. Parking was tight, we went to see the Pearl with the idea of having family come but the parking would be too tight. Lovely interior and exterior but would have loved a sail over the sun lounges as it got too hot sitting outside for more than 30 minutes. Found our Pavilion was noisy with traffic outside on road in number 48 from 7am. Would love to go back in a different Pavilion location.

Room Tip: Ask for a Pavilion away from main road!

Dear Guest Thank you for taking the time to review us.

We actively promote The Pearle as fully self-contained resort, but with the 5 star trimmings, such as onsite Breakfast Cafe, Day Spa, full Tour Desk facilities,Resort Shop, 36 swimming pools and yes additional service menu options if requested.

The Pearle has had an extremely busy season and we have been full on many nights through out the last 3 months. Parking is at a premium when we are this full, but we have never had a circumstance where we could not accommodate additional visitor cars.

We are about to purchase new umbrellas for each pavilion. This will promote a lovely shaded area around your very own private swimming pool.

We haven’t previously had any complaints about road noise...Millington Road is not a major road, rather a service road. This may have been a one off incident with a noisy vehicle driving past early in the morning.

Thank you again and we look forward to hosting your next stay in Beautiful Broome.

Kind Regards,
Paul Coggan

Like some previous guest comments we have just returned after 7 nights using a Deals.com voucher in a guest room. These rooms are basically just a hotel room we had a continental breakfast in the cafe on site around the pool included each morning. We had cereal, fruits yoghurt , toast varieties pastries and croissants as well as juices and hot drinks. It was fine although not being a sweet fan some savoury croissants or scrolls or small quiches would have been nice. We will be going back and will be quite happy to stay at the Pearle again but next time will be choosing one of the lovely pavillion type rooms. Even though these are more expensive they give you much more space and include a lounge room, kitchen, laundry couple of bedrooms 1 2 or 3 and ensuite bathroom and extra bathroom as well as own lap pool, and outdoor area with bbq and furniture much more private, we will probably bring friends and split the bill. When you have a look around the prices are fairly in tune with the area and for the value you get. All the staff were great, they booked one of our day trips for us which is a must do in Broome, on the INTOMBI old pearle lugger PICKED UP AT 1.30 out for the afternoon swimming off the back of the boat if you want, drinking champagne or whatever you like, eating nibbles and watching the sunset before being returned to The Pearle at 6.30, great day. We had a very relaxing holiday didn't spend a lot time in our room, swam in the pool and at the beach came back had a rest on the bed or a drink on the verandah. Ate, drank, swam, little bit of sightseeing. The highlight everyday is of course the sunset which we watched every day followed by a meal at one of the beach restaurants. We would recommend the Pearle and will return but next time will choose a pavilion larger room but the guest rooms are fine probably for a short stay.

5 night stay courtesy Deals.com. Not knowing what to expect room wise. Guest room basic & comfortable , loved the shower. Dining in was a bit of a problem which could only be alfresco on the entry balcony. Would recommend upgrade room for 4 or more nights. Parking a bit of a problem with limited space. Extended daylight Cafe hrs would be an advantage for poolside lunch or afternoon coffee. We loved Broome & found the Pearle an ideal base with friendly helpful staff. Beautifully maintained gardens & pool made for a very relaxed stay. Pity it is so far from home as would love to return. B & C Blue Mts. NSW

Room Tip: larger room for extended stay

We stayed at The Pearle after purchasing a cheap voucher from Deals.com. Having been previously stung by these vouchers, we weren't expecting much so it was a nice surprise to find The Pearle was actually a nice looking resort. Upon check in, the staff were friendly and the room, though basic, was clean and as described.
As we had a voucher, we had the basic room set up: king bed, nice shower, bar fridge, TV etc and breakfast included daily.

I think it's fair to say that The Pearle is a great place to stay if you are not planning on hanging around the hotel much.

It doesn't have a bar or a restaurant or anywhere to have a sandwich for lunch which is actually really really annoying. The "cafe" serves breakfast only and at $18, you have no choice but to have cereal/toast and fruit.
Sometimes, you just want a quiet day by the pool (which is lovely to swim in) but you do have to leave your slice of heaven to eat or have that cheeky holiday cocktail....seems little but these things do annouy you.

There is also no where near enough parking which seems to cause friction amongst the hotel guests (most were grey nomads) As Broome is very sparse, you really do need to hire a car. Privacy is also slightly tricky but this may change as the gardens mature. I wouldn't describe this hotel as a romantic location and would recommend elsewhere if your are looking for your honeymoon.

Nice things about The Pearle include free use of the washing machine, shower head is the same one the Westin charges a fortune for under it's "Heavely" branding, lovely pool temperature and friendly staff.

Overall, as I said, it's comfortable but not luxury. If you would rather be off exploring then this is a fine place to stay. It's def not 5 star, perhaps 3.5 to 4 would be more accurate.

I agree with the sentiment about a rethink .. the Paearle does have some lovely features and we were ungraded to one of the villa (which was very nice) but at $500 a night I'd have expected a bit more wow! Some real basics missing like an offer to show us to our room / transport the bags on arrival. Offering instant coffee and charging $4 for a brewed coffee is frankly outrageous!! Qiite a surprise when we were told the rooms aren't serviced every day ... I can make a bed and pick up a few towles but at these prices ... I expected a bit of pampering. Oh yea and make the most of the two Nespresso capsules ... they dont get refilled either. Nice enough place but 5 stars! $500 a night!! Better value elsewhere I suspect.

Dear Guest,
When a guest arrives without a car, where ever possible, we do escort the guest to their room with our guest services buggy. I do apologise if this didn't occur on check in for you. I will check with reception as to why this wasn't offered to you.
Our Pearle Pavilions are marketed as a 5 star equivalent, fully self- contained option, with your very own private swimming pool, full kitchen and full laundry. We do a full mid stay service for the Pavilions if you stay for 7 nights or more. The Guest rooms, because they don’t have their own laundry, are serviced daily. We do offer additional servicing options at the request of the guest.
We provide a very healthy and nutritional continental breakfast, 7 days a week at our onsite breakfast cafe. We provide coffees, teas, herbal tea options that are included within the breakfast buffet. As an additional option, for those real coffee lovers, we are able to provide guests with specialty coffees, such as espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, chai tea etc. These are charged at the standard industry rate of $4. Your comment that we charge $4 for 'brewed' coffee is incorrect and a little unfair.
We have recently put into the Pavilions, Nespresso machines, which guests have mentioned to us that they are a real 'wow' feature. We also provide a complementary 6 capsules with each check in. We trust that you enjoyed them.

I would love the opportunity to host your stay again in beautiful Broome.

Kind Regards,
Paul Coggan
