“Great Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Gibb River Road is now just any other good dirt road with many people sitting on 100km or more! ! Try a visit to Mount Elizabeth Station for a break in the journey. The offer different styles of accomodation, dogs can be welcome but check first. You can even book a meal with the family and staff - when available. Look at the web site for more information.

“Don't bother (seconded)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

We were looking forward to this place because the station tour with aboriginal art sites had been recommended.
On booking in with a rather charmless woman who turned out to be the owner, we were told "yes" there was room on next day's tour. However when we went back later in the day to pay a not inconsiderable amount, it seemed that the tour was booked up & the only option was a tag along which was not possible with our vehicle. It seemed someone with more influence (or money) had taken our place. This was relayed to us by another person at the gate, Mrs Lacey was standing on the veranda & didn't even deign to walk a few steps to apologise or explain.
The only thing positive about the place were the hot showers albeit in pretty basic old fibro shed, but then we were paying $32 p/n for a patch of paddock, so I guess they should have been.
This is a 60kms detour off the main road so think carefully before you commit. There is nothing to do at the camp site, the river is another 40km return on a very rough track.

“A highlight of our Kimberly adventure”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Four of us visited Mt Elizabeth Station In June 2012 and found the owners and staff extremely helpful. We camped and would say that it was probably the best site we visited. The station tour was again a welcome insight into the working life in the Kimberley and we learnt more about the aboriginal history than anywhere else.I would highly recommend spending two nights and come away far better informed.

“An oasis on the Gibb”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We stayed at Mt Elizabeth as part of our GIbb River Road adventure in Aug this year. We had a big day and arrived with no spares for our vehicle having had two go at the same time. The staff were extremely helpful making calls for me to source new tyres. They made several calls for us no charge. Our rooms were fine, sure not the Hyatt, however they were clean, tidy and the beds were comfortable, must have been as I slept like a log. Dinner was as good as you would get at home, and I can assure you much better than that which we received the night before. There was plenty of it and we shared with a group of hungry growing teenage boys on a school field trip, there was ample. Breakfast next morning was more than we would normally eat, choice of cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, tomato, toast. Selection of juice and hot tea and coffee. The staff were extremely pleasant and the owner / host was very accommodating.
I would recommend Mt Elizabeth station as an overnite stop to everyone travelling the GRR, stay awhile if you can. Great place, great people, good food, great service.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Visited Mount Elizabeth station a few weeks ago and were welcomed by the receptionist. She was very helpful and friendly. We camped at the campsite and the ablutions were nice and clean, lots of hot water and a very nice campsite.
