“Excellent food in nice surroundings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

Excellent food in nice surroundings served in a friendly manner. Slight problem with credit card machine, soon sorted out by younger member of staff. Reasonable value for current AUD exchange rate!

“Attitude on Lt Burke”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Spending a substantial amount of money you would expect better service. I had to ask three times for the menu. The head waiter was full of attitude, never quite felt he was there for us. Did not feel like we were getting value either, food ordinary.
Green vegetables - a few snow peas and a whisper of spinach
Calamari - too salty, small serve too
Rice - not steamy & hot, more like leftover from lunch
Crispy duck was good
Dumplings good also
But overall no interest in going back, there are better places

“Unreal food! Highly recommend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013 via mobile

I was hoping for a traditional yum cha with the trolleys but my disappointment was completely over ruled by amazement!
The food was incredible and fresh! The flavours were mind blowing and I wish I could fit more in my belly :-) service was great and atmosphere was very welcoming.
Thank tea house for a great experience! Love melbourne!

“Outstanding Service, Exceptional food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

It's more expensive than the average Chinese restaurant but both the food & atmosphere make it well worth while. Baked crab shell is absolutely divine, I've never found anything at another restaurant that even comes close to this one. Eye fillet steak with Szechuan sauce, and Peking Duck are both fantastic. The best thing about the duck is you can order however many pieces you feel like, rather than be forced into ordering half or even a whole duck. Steamed barramundi in spring onion & ginger and crystal prawns are other winning dishes.

“Great food experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

My partner and I visited Tea House on Saturday last and WOW!! I'd not ventured into Chinatown for many years and I'm so glad we did. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Whilst the cost was higher than a suburban restaurant, which was expected, I could not find any fault whatsoever. The honey pepper beef was a stand out from a banquet which had many highlights. I cannot wait to return to this restaurant in the near future.
