“Value, fun and authentic!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

I'm a semi regular here. It's intimate and authentic in its offerings.
What draws me back is value for money and cosy ambience.
My friend and I find it hard to go past the set menu platter, with yummy, varied Abyssinian curries, eaten with your right hand using the fabulous warm, freshly prepared millet and sorghum flat bread.
My friend gets the owner to select an African beer for him and has sampled many, without disappointment. We usually take our own wine, saving even more on costs.
Friendly, obliging service!
Make sure you book, as it is usually packed, with two sittings on Friday and Saturday nights!

“Delicious and unusual”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

It's something different but it's so good. The food basket is enormous and we ordered two between four people and couldn't finish them. Catered well for our vegetarian family members. It would be a great place to take a date, since it's quite intimate and interesting, but it's too small for big groups.

“Fabulous tasty food and really friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

My only regret was that I waited so long to try this restaurant. The food was amazing and reminded me a lot of India too with the different types of dahl, goat, chicken and amazing chickpea number with green chillies. We had the chef's special like most people, which was really well priced and great value. There was not a single thing on the platter that I didn't like. You also think, that doesn't look like that much, but the 3 of us struggled and did not finish our platter.

Don't be intimidated to try this place, the food is not overly spicy or hot and you can really tell all the different rich flavours of each dish. If you don't want to eat with your hands you can ask for cutlery, but it's all part of the great experience of eating Ethiopian and Eritrean food and we really enjoyed it. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately they only have a liquor licence until 10:30pm, which considering they are far more responsible than the pub a few doors down is a shame, but not really an issue as you go there for the food and great company. Will definitely be back.

“Interesting African eates in a cosey atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Hearty filling interesting food, good to share. It was full from.start to finish. We did entries and shared mains. The menu was easy to understand and the staff happy to help out. Good location with couple of places for a drink before or after.

“An enjoyable meal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

Been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. Knew that you eat with your hands, not with utensils, but there is still something off putting ripping a pancake like substance and mopping your meal up to eat.

Food was of good value. We ordered a share plate for two, as did most in the restaurant. Dishes were nice. Service was distracted during the night, but I didn't feel annoyed. Just needed to catch there attention. Food contained Dahl type dishes, long with goat and other traditional Ethiopian meals. Had a good meal at a reasonable place. Happy to suggest, but won't rerun again myself.
