“Excellent place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2009

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment and could not fault it. It was well appointed, well serviced and reception staff were always very helpful. It is refreshing to have a place where you can walk onto a balcony (we had two balconies) and open windows to get fresh air. The location was excellent with a supermarket and liquor outlet right next door. It was within one block of Chinatown, theatres and a couple of blocks from Lygon street. The free tourist shuttle bus stop was 1 block away and trams including city circle very closeby. We would recommend highly to anyone and would stay there again. We have stayed at the Oaks on Market on a previous visit and found the Oaks on Lonsdale to be far superior.

We stayed in an one room apartment for 8 nights on 20/F in Aug2009. We really LOVE the apartment. It's very new and modern. And I LOVE the polished floor (bedroom is carpeted). It has a small balcony, but it was too windy to stay there. The apartment is spotless and they provided everything e.g.washing machine powder, dish washer powder, toiletry, cooking utensils, cutlery and towel, etc.
Apartment- NEW!! Very very new and spacious, broadband connection (ard $125 for one week 500mb), LCD TV with DVD player. Bath tub was a bit too small and the floor got all wet after shower. Be careful when U stepped into the bathtub as it is very slippery. My bf almost fell!! (It happened to me as well)
Reception- The front office is very helpful and efficient. 24-hr reception
Location- a convenience store next door, right in the city. 5 mins walk to collins st (we love wandering around the cafes around collins st)., 10 mins to QV (Big W and Woolies supermarket) and Melbourne central, 20mins walk to Lygon st, 25mins walk to Crowns Casino. However, since it is located at the end of Lonsdale, we had to go there by tram (ard 10mins) (Bourke st tram 96) . Cab costs around $11 from casino to the apartment after mid-night).Next to Quest Lonsdale ,but I would recommend Oaks as it looks much newer
Housekeeping-The only thing that disappointed us. The apartment was serviced daily, towels were changed daily, bed sheet and pillow cases were changed every 3 days. However, dishes were not done on some days.

We stayed here for 5 nights in a 3 bed apartment on the 28th floor. It was actually a 2 bed and studio adjoining so was perfect for us as the single adult had their own space away from the children. The apartment was spotless and serviced every day - dishes done, new towels provided if needed and toiletries replenished. The location is great - a super market next door, restaurants and shopping close by and the free city tram stop one block away. Reception staff were very helpful and efficient and arranged a car drop off, gave directions and helped when we needed a doctor and chemist. The 3rd bedroom was pretty small and had no windows. It was fine for our 3 year old but if it was 3 couples sharing it wouldn't be great to be in that 3rd room. But if was perfect for our needs and I would thoroughly recommend it.

We stayed for 2 night at Oaks on Lonsdale last month.

The location is excellent, in the centre of Melbourne and next door to a small supermarket. We arrived with a taxi (55$) from the airport because something went wrong with our rental car. The second day we received our car. Parking is available under the hotel, and is charged 20$ per night.

We stayed in a studio which was modern, clean but also very small. Especially because we were travelling with our daughter and needed a cot for her. We paid 139$ per night (excl. breakfast) which made this is the most expensive hotel we visited during our tour to Australia. Also the internet was expensive (I think 25$ per day) and has maximum of 100 MB per day

Although we enjoyed our stay we experienced better quality price ratios in most of the other cities we visited in Australia.

i stayed four nights in these apartments. We had a one bedroomed apartment with twin beds. They were twin when we arrived which is great because other times I have used apartments with girlfriends we have had to ring reception and get them to change the beds. The living area was spacious and they were serviced every day which we didn't expect. The building is very close to a railway station (underground) and also the tram system, including the free tram. This wasn't on lonsdale but coming out from reception onto the street, you turn right and go to the end of the block about 20m. We didn't work this out until the 2nd day. Great places for breakfast opposite the building but only on weekdays as they service the surrounding offices.

My wife, son and I stayed in a single bedroom appartment with rollaway bed from 8th to 18th August. The appartment was well equipped with good decor. But we had to complain to get proper daily servicing. They just wanted to drop fresh towels daily and clean twice a week. The internet was expensive at 27.60 A$/day up to 150 MB, then an hourly rate kicked in. The equivalent weekly was 126 A$/week. Also, only one laptop could be used. If a second laptop was to be used, the charges were repeated. Overall, nice appartments spoiled by the penny-pinching management attitude.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2009

Husband and I stayed for three nights in August in a 1 bedroom apartment. Checked in late Friday with no issues. Had asked for upper floor with good views. We got what we asked for 26th floor (out of 29) on the corner 2602B with views over City which was great. Apartment was very clean and modern. When you walked in the bathroom was off a short hall and then you walked into open plan full kitchen, dining and lounge area. Off the lounge was the bedroom. The bathroom had shower over the bath, toilet, sink and a washer/dryer and laundry sink behind cupboard doors. There was small glass panel from bath to ceiling to stop shower water going on the floor which was really silly as it was too small and water did go everywhere plus it was quite slippery standing in the bath. Washer/dryer was all in one, extremely slow and not that easy to operate. The kitchen was spacious and had everything you could need - convection microwave, dishwasher, full fridge freezer, full oven and hob... all modern and clean. Dining consisted of table and four chairs and lounge had flatscreen tv, DVD, stereo, couch, armchair, desk with internet connection although didn't use that. Bedroom had 2 side cabinets, large wardrobes and a king size bed with plenty of extra blankets and pillows. Very comfortable. Off the lounge was a small balcony with small table and 2 chairs. It was so windy when we were there you couldn't open the doors as the wind was fierce. The first night the wind was very loud but the second night it was unbearable and I was awake a lot - sounded like the windows were coming in and the balcony furniture was blown over. We asked to be moved to a lower floor (bit embarrassing when I had asked for upper floor). Hotel staff did move us but weren't overly friendly about it. We moved to floor 6 and overlooked Lonsdale Street. Much much quieter and just as nice. There is nothing much around the hotel at all... it is up the top of Lonsdale Street near Parliament - 5 minute walk to theatres though and about 15 minute walk to centre. We caught the trams from Parliament station 2 minutes to travel to Collins and Bourke Streets. $6.80 per day each for as much travel in central zones on bus, trams or trains as you like (half price of Sundays). We got around easily but if I went again I would stay more in the CBD. There is a room service company that do deliver to the hotel and we used this twice - very nice food and reasonable prices. Checkout was okay - again service was average. When we asked to book the shuttle the girl was quite rude as if we were causing work so that was disappointing. Overall, nice modern, spacious apartments - but try and stay in the middle - otherwise road noise too low and ferocious winds up high and be prepared to tram everywhere. We didn't have a car but there is a Wilson carpark next door.
