Have stayed at several Oaks properties in Brisbane before so had a pretty good idea what to expect here. New, very well equipped apartments at reasonable prices if you book direct. A massive main room with "wood" flooring which felt a bit bare as it only had one couch and a dining table and chairs so a bit of a problem if more than two people wanted to sit in comfort to watch the large flat screen TV. Large, comfortable bed, apart from the pillows (see below) and another TV gives a better option for relaxed viewing.
Feared it was going to be noisy, but actually no problems on that score. Front desk staff seemed very young, but dealt with all queries quickly and efficiently.
Only two things to watch out for - the pillows provided were impossible to sleep on so we had a lousy first night, but a quick call to housekeeping and much softer ones were provided. Of greater concern was the parking arrangements. Access is via a single shared ramp with very high kerbs so you just have to hope and pray that you don't meet someone coming the other way, as reversing is a nightmare!
All in all, a good place to stay - convenient to public transport and lots of good places to eat nearby. There is a small supermarket next door which is convenient, but totally overpriced. Much better bet is to walk a couple of blocks down Lonsdale Street to a large Safeway store which is a bit tucked away, but stays open until late and everything is at normal prices.
