“Great location, room was lacking furniture”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

3 x couples stayed here (room 3305) to see a concert at Rod Laver in July 2013, so we booked a 3 bedroom penthouse and were quite happy with how large the apartment was.

The location of this place is fantastic! There is a 24hr Mcdonalds across the rd, there is a tram stop 30m from the door, and Crown casino is a 3min walk North towards the city. So everything is very convenient!

There are a few downsides... this room was empty!!!! I mean we booked 3 double beds, so you can assume we had 6 people staying, and this room has ONE couch capable of holding 3 small people or two blokes. Along with this is a very uncomfortable swivel chair and that is it! Where are the other 2-4 people meant to sit? At the kitchen table? That wouldnt be very good if you were to sit for a movie or something. Also the couch I am talking about is a Sofa bed, so potentially this apartment can hold 8 adults, with no seating!!!

Also the apartment wasnt stocked in the kitchen, it didnt have enough plates, cups, wine glasses, cutlery etc for 8 people, so we ended up drinking wine from normal cups, it was just an easy thing to overcome, and im not sure why they dont have them.

The view was absolutely amazing, we could see the flames from Crown Casino, a great view of the city, and view of south melbourne.

With the windows open the noise from the highway below was quite noticable, but with windows shut the noise was less than a very dull hum.

The bathrooms (2x) and the toilet (3x) were more than enough, and very clean/tidy.

I would most definately stay here again, but at least I would know what to expect. I was a little disappointed with the room, but the location and view really made up for it.

Room Tip: The higher up the better the view!!!

I originally hesitated about booking Plum because I'd read some unfavourable comments, but there were some good ones too and I took their advice with choosing a city view apartment. The apartment was on the 23rd floor in the Bank building and we had a clear view to the hills in the East and towards the city to the North. My 4-year old was most impressed by the night sky view!
It was an easy walk to the Crown precinct and across the river. We left our car in the parking building which was just as well, because we were not offered a garage key. Check in was an ordeal as the receptionist claimed we had not paid, but she tried this on the guy checking in before us too so maybe she was running a racket.
The apartment was spacious and clean with the exception of a collection of cigarette butts on the balcony. Oh and one of the blinds in the main bedroom was broken. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Don't bother doing your makeup in the bathroom though, the light is too dim.
Overall it was a great stay.

Room Tip: City view is a must

I styled there last weekend (2 nights in the bank building) with my partner and another couple. I was a little apprehensive because sharing a unit can be a little squishy but absolutely no problems at plum. We stayed on level 37, with a great view, and had 2 good sized bedrooms, one with ensuite and a second nice bathroom. I was surprised at how much room there was, considering. If I had to complain (and I guess it's the issues you are really reading this review for), the lounge was abit squishy for 4, the bedroom door squeaked terribly and woke everyone up if you needed to get up at night (easily fixed with wd-40 i can imagine) the apartment wasn't serviced at all over the weekend so a single towel had to make do and sometimes there was a queue for the lift. In good news, it was in a great location, very clean and ample cupboard space etc.

Room Tip: We were on level 37 and it was super quiet and had a great view.

Came to Melbourne for a long weekend and family celebration. I needed somewhere close to the family and this was ideal as it was a 30 second walk around the corner. It was a 2 minute walk to the Casino, 7 minute walk to the Exhibition Centre and a quick tram ride to anywhere else you wanted to go. The apartment was well appointed and spotlessly clean, the living areas were comfortable and the bathroom was a surprize as it was quite large. My only complaints were there were no towel racks in the bathroom to hang your towels on, you had to either toss them over the shower or over the chairs in the lounge and the single beds were extremely narrow. Other than that they were brilliant and I would stay here again.

We stayed in the new building called The Bank. I am so torn writing this review because the apartment was really good, if a little small, very clean and very well equipped but it was on the 'highway' side of the building and the traffic noise was awful, fine when you are awake, chatting and watching telly but in the early hours of the morning - awful ! I read on here to ask for a high room if you couldn't get on the City side of the building and they put us on the 22nd floor but still noisy. Might be ok if you are from the City and used to traffic noise but seriously pay the bit extra and get a City view room if one is available. The other down side is the that the beds are small, we had a twins and they are the width of a childs bed but longer, however very comfy ! Such good value at $125 or ($135 city view) per night for the 1 bedroom apartment, situated close to Crown Casino. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and efficient when you needed anything. Security is good on the building too which was nice for 2 ladies. A lot was said about the car park in other comments I read and yes it is not great but I did see a few big 4 x 4's parked in there and I managed fine and it is so cheap compared to other places in the area ($10) per night. I would stay again.

Room Tip: City view room is a must !!!

3 of us girls needed a break and found it in our beautiful city of Melbourne in Plum Apartments. On line at $130 a night so decided to have an apartment each. At this price I was so happy to find they were great size single rooms, large bathroom, storage area, large dining, kitchen, full size fridge, (as we took nibbles and drinks), clean, location brilliant for Exhibition Sthbank buildings and all their expos, stone throw from Casino where we did Gold Class Village Cinemas, Southbank and the Ice Bar, South Melbourne Market, tram stop at your doorstep, and the biggest bonus parking on sight which was a mere $12. Cheap for city! We walked through most of the city and cab back to Plum from China Town was a simple $10 tops! Easy drive to Vic Markets the next day and home again. Great day, night and next day break!! Thanks Plum Apartments. Helpful staff and highly recommend. Small tip, coming out of Plum Apartments head towards the undercover carpark and catch lift to 1st floor which is part of Crown and you can walk through to Southbank under cover in air conditioning comfort.

Room Tip: We had three different rooms on all different levels and all 3 of us had a great view and no complai...
