“Plum serviced apartments”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013

I styled there last weekend (2 nights in the bank building) with my partner and another couple. I was a little apprehensive because sharing a unit can be a little squishy but absolutely no problems at plum. We stayed on level 37, with a great view, and had 2 good sized bedrooms, one with ensuite and a second nice bathroom. I was surprised at how much room there was, considering. If I had to complain (and I guess it's the issues you are really reading this review for), the lounge was abit squishy for 4, the bedroom door squeaked terribly and woke everyone up if you needed to get up at night (easily fixed with wd-40 i can imagine) the apartment wasn't serviced at all over the weekend so a single towel had to make do and sometimes there was a queue for the lift. In good news, it was in a great location, very clean and ample cupboard space etc.

Room Tip: We were on level 37 and it was super quiet and had a great view.

Came to Melbourne for a long weekend and family celebration. I needed somewhere close to the family and this was ideal as it was a 30 second walk around the corner. It was a 2 minute walk to the Casino, 7 minute walk to the Exhibition Centre and a quick tram ride to anywhere else you wanted to go. The apartment was well appointed and spotlessly clean, the living areas were comfortable and the bathroom was a surprize as it was quite large. My only complaints were there were no towel racks in the bathroom to hang your towels on, you had to either toss them over the shower or over the chairs in the lounge and the single beds were extremely narrow. Other than that they were brilliant and I would stay here again.

We stayed in the new building called The Bank. I am so torn writing this review because the apartment was really good, if a little small, very clean and very well equipped but it was on the 'highway' side of the building and the traffic noise was awful, fine when you are awake, chatting and watching telly but in the early hours of the morning - awful ! I read on here to ask for a high room if you couldn't get on the City side of the building and they put us on the 22nd floor but still noisy. Might be ok if you are from the City and used to traffic noise but seriously pay the bit extra and get a City view room if one is available. The other down side is the that the beds are small, we had a twins and they are the width of a childs bed but longer, however very comfy ! Such good value at $125 or ($135 city view) per night for the 1 bedroom apartment, situated close to Crown Casino. The staff were fantastic, so friendly and efficient when you needed anything. Security is good on the building too which was nice for 2 ladies. A lot was said about the car park in other comments I read and yes it is not great but I did see a few big 4 x 4's parked in there and I managed fine and it is so cheap compared to other places in the area ($10) per night. I would stay again.

Room Tip: City view room is a must !!!

3 of us girls needed a break and found it in our beautiful city of Melbourne in Plum Apartments. On line at $130 a night so decided to have an apartment each. At this price I was so happy to find they were great size single rooms, large bathroom, storage area, large dining, kitchen, full size fridge, (as we took nibbles and drinks), clean, location brilliant for Exhibition Sthbank buildings and all their expos, stone throw from Casino where we did Gold Class Village Cinemas, Southbank and the Ice Bar, South Melbourne Market, tram stop at your doorstep, and the biggest bonus parking on sight which was a mere $12. Cheap for city! We walked through most of the city and cab back to Plum from China Town was a simple $10 tops! Easy drive to Vic Markets the next day and home again. Great day, night and next day break!! Thanks Plum Apartments. Helpful staff and highly recommend. Small tip, coming out of Plum Apartments head towards the undercover carpark and catch lift to 1st floor which is part of Crown and you can walk through to Southbank under cover in air conditioning comfort.

Room Tip: We had three different rooms on all different levels and all 3 of us had a great view and no complai...

These apartments are located very close to Crown Casino, South Wharf DFO and to the quirky coffee shops of South Melbourne. We attended the Comedy Festival. We caught a taxi ($9) into the city but walked home via Southbank.
The apartments are well appointed and have all that visitors need. They were light, bright and reasonably spacious.

It's about ten minutes walk from Flinders Street at the south side of Melbourne CBD to the Plum Apartments. An inconspicuous entrance from busy littered City Road takes you to a clean and tidy, if spartan, lobby. Here the friendly staff will offer a bag drop for early arrivals and late departures, or early check-in to a room if one is available.
Fast lifts give access to small lobby areas with a few rooms on each floor. The air conditioned apartment we had was spotlessly clean, well planned and equipped for self caterers and included a full size washer and dryer. The busy city motorway lies close by but triple glazing on the balcony door (few people will use the balcony, overlooked from other apartments and with the city din very evident) ensured that noise was limited.
There is a Coles supermarket and other handy shops and takeaways a few minutes walk down the road towards St Kilda. The excellent South Melbourne Market lies in the same direction.
If you want to pay with a non-Aussie plastic card - either debit or credit - you will be stung for the usual Aussie rip-off of 1.5% on top. Do note that unusually this applies to debit as well as credit cards here.

Room Tip: There's an all-night disco somewhere nearby - so ask for a room that faces away from that - the...

We stayed here in March for a function at Crown Casino, just a short walk away. Very clean one bedroom apartment with small kitchen and a washing machine and dryer in the bathroom cupboard. Everything you needed, we were on level 34 so no road noise. It is on the SKYWAY bus shuttle drop off, very convienent.

There was a bad smell in the hallway when you got out the lifts, but that didn't drift into the apartment.

I was sorry that we didn't have more time to enjoy the room and veiw, will be staying here next time for sure!

Room Tip: Higher floors have fantastic veiws city side.
