We had the most perfect night for our sons 30th birthday- five of us in total. The young ones started with whisky sours and we all enjoyed a magnum of red, Bajondillo. This is the sort of place to share all the dishes. That way you get little tastes of everything. Some of the dishes were very rich and not the sort of dish that just one person could eat alone.We decided to leave the entire menu choice to our waiter who chose beautifully. After tasting the bread, we joked we could just eat the bread and the red wine all night. In itself the bread was a taste sensation.We had 5 entrees and 5 mains between us. The anchovies with tomatoe sorbet, spanish mackeral with pine nut gazpacho, duck liver pate sandwich, croquet with quail egg inside and iberica bellota divine. The shared mains included the spring mussels, uncious rabbit, beef cheek with cauliflower puree, pine mushrooms and pork hock delightful. We then shared the creme caramel and churritos. By allowing the waiter to choose the entire menu and sharing all dishes , which included 1 entree of each type per person- i.e. 5 pieces of each entree as there were 5 of us , took away any angst over what to order and each course just came out one after the other. Service was terrific, ambience fantastic and location ideal- Hosier Lane in the city. We all had such a great time , eating, drinking and laughing together- a special birthday to remember.Tip- book at 2030hrs -the second sitting and you can take your time. We went on a Thursday night. Simply terrific. Trust your waiter.
