For our works christmas party, 11 of us turned up, on time, for dinner at Koko!
We were told with a smile that our table was not ready, in fact there were people still seated at it!
We were asked with a smile to wait for 15 to 30 minutes over there! ( by the bar!") Very sorry about that! " smile!
There was nowhere to sit and our boss asked about a free drink while we waited, which was refused!" We don't do free drinks,we not aloud!, Very sorry about that! "
I myself spoke to one of the head wait staff and we were seated within 5 minutes, again " very sorry about that"
I don't know how this place can boast such great service, as in my opinion everyone just runs around in circles like an episode in a comedy sketch!
I do know that if we were to have turned up 15 to 30 minutes late for our reservation we would have probably been lucky to still have a table at all ! We kept our side of the bargain!
I was given the task of ordering the wine, only to have them come back to me and tell me they didn't have that wine in stock, " Very sorry about that!' smile!
Really? and you didn't think to take it off your menu??
One of our diners is gluten free and it surprised me to fine the staff pouring his soya sauce directly out of the bottle, not the best I thought for a 5 star serviced establishment.
Eventually the wine arrived, but not the drinks others had ordered! They had to be asked for at least twice more a trend that continued throughout the night.
The meal was certainly nowhere near the quality of the many japanese meals I have experienced,the presentation was definately not refined or intricate, something I expect from a place of this supposed standard!
I watched our chef( not Japanese) cook our salmon fillets and scallops with mild panic as they must have spent at least 5 minutes on each side on the hot plate, so of course the salmon was dry and the scallops rubber! We won't mention the prawns!
Then came the soup, which was fine, however none of us had finished this before they brought out the fried fish dish, luke warm and presented without care of any kind!
Another bottle of wine? This time is came a little quicker but after I test tasted it, our waitress poured everyone elses and forgot about mine! " Very sorry about that!
The spirit order that went with that order had to be enquired about another two times and even then one of the person did not receive their third drink!
The meal continued on this level and it would have been amusing to watch the staff run around in circles, and being very sorry about a lot of things but our boss was paying top end prices for this place , he had flwon 4 of us in from other countries and I felt for him!
After the chef had cooked the last part of our meal, he checked if we had had our fill, we had! He then proceded to use our hotplate, which we were all sitting around and cook not one, but two other meals for people who were seated in another part of the room!
This is totally unacceptable, rude, cheap and in unbelievable bad taste!
We were not offered any teas,coffees or any other kind of after dinner drinks whatsoever, very disappointing !
The place is noisy, manic and certainly does not deserve it's rating of " 5 Star" service.
I suggest if you want japanese food , served with style, find somewhere else to eat!
