Decided to have a childfree night in town, and found the Oaks on Market to have a great overnight rate. Very impressed with the size of the room; cleanliness and facilities.
Loved the bed (2 King singles pushed together) and pillows, having the best night's sleep in a long time waking without sore backs!!
Only fault was decided to have a spa the following morning, and after going through a maze of stairs, we found the spa needed to be heated for 20 minutes prior as was too cold to sit in. By then we were too cold to wait, so didn't bother. Notice in the rooms of prior heating would have been appreciated.
Overall can't fault the place. Had a lovely night.

A very enjoyable trip made easier because we had a nice comfortable hotel room to return to each night. Hotel location is perfect for exploring the city. 21st floor studio apartment with great views, queen size bed was comfortable enough, well equipped kitchen and very nice bathroom. Only one dining chair was a bit odd so when we stayed in to cook dinner one night, we had to eat it sitting on the couch.

But overall very nice hotel, friendly staff, would recommend.

The reviews sold it for me but I was disappointed. It was all quite ordinary. The bedding configuration shows king sized bed for studio room - the bed was smaller than my own queen sized bed. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Other noisy guests added to sleeplessness as well as revellers in the streets. Pillows were left on the floor by room service on more than one occasion. LIttle things like soap wasn't replenished. Bathroom glasses not cleaned. Towels were old, small and paper thin. The spa was cold - you had to heat it before/while using it! Altogether a very budget hotel marauding as a 4.5 star establishment.

My partner and I decided to drive in from regional VIC, seeing as he was from overseas and had never been to Melbourne for a proper visit. We were fortunate that the weather then was perfect, but Oaks on Market surpassed our expectations in terms of location, customer service, cleanliness and quality - the room was sparkling, bathroom was massive, mattress was firm and excellent, it's on the business end of Collins right in the city but close enough to walk to Southbank and the river, and it cost us barely AUD$170 night over the spring races weekend. No complaints at all, would definitely stay there again.
