I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone. The staff were very friendly and easy going, although the rooms were quite small if you have a lot of luggage, ours was very comfortable with a tv, bar fridge and a gas heater which was more than adequate for the chilly nights. On the second floor there are two computers with internet also a plug in for people with their own laptops. There is sunroof where a very basic but very adequate kitchen and washing machine and dryer to use at a minimum price is also situated. We chose this hotel as it was very affordable and a central base to visit family and friends and also have a break away, and were very happy with our choice of accomodation. Everything is in walking distance with a free city circle tram just outside the door. My son and i felt like we were at home away from home and would like to congratulate the owners, office staff and cleaners for a top budget job. Would stay again.

The City Centre Budget Hotel is in a great location, but it is very much a budget hotel. The rooms are small, but functional. They only have space heaters, so it can get a bit chilly during the winter. The shared bathrooms are pretty clean. There are free computers with internet on each floor, which is a nice plus. The staff was super helpful.

I stayed in this hotel with a friend of mine for one night. No problems with booking our room via email, whatsoever. Very fast and efficient email communication with hotel staff. We arrived very early in the morning, as our room was not ready, we had to leave our luggage and wander around town. Our room was on a small side, but clean. Not much of a view from our window, as it overlooked a multi-storey carpark. We had a shared bathroom, but it was clean. Staff could not be more helpful. They were more than happy to give tips about what to see in Melbourne. They even helped us to book a car online from their office. The hotel is centrally located. If I ever go back to Melbourne, I would definitely try to stay at this hotel again.

We went during the winter and the rooms were quite cold. Thankfully, heaters were provided for each room. Rooms were well equipped and comfortable. Staff were helpful in giving us directions and tips on places to go.

Annoyingly on our first night, there was someone blasting music from their room, distracting everyone from sleeping. Someone eventually yelled out from the window to tell them to shut up. Hopefully this doesn't occur very often.

They had one computer for internet use.

My 2 friends and I booked a family room for a 7-night stay. Check-in was prompt and there's space for luggage storage even though check-in only starts after 1pm (which is normal for many hotels).

The family room has a bunk bed and a double bed, hence we had a bed extra... the beds are super comfy and although there was no air-con, the room was airy and comfortable enough without turning on the fan provided. Basic facilities such as tv and a small fridge were a bonus, in view of the affordable room rates. We paid around AUD120-130 per night, per room.

There were 3 female communal bathrooms on the 2nd floor where we stayed on, and it was pretty convenient and safe for us girls and usually they are empty, so washing up wasnt a problem at all.

Staff service was quite good, with the exception of one guy. The more friendly staff helped us whereever they could, in finding directions or booking of day tours. Pretty satisfied with the service provided :) Thank you!

If you are looking for budget stay, this is the hotel you are looking for. Simple, but cosy and comfortable enough. :) Not to mention that the location is great, 3 minutes from the train station and 5 minutes to the main hustle and bustle of the city centre.

We stayed here for 6 nights while on holiday in the absolutely fabulous city of Melbourne.

This is the best budget hotel I've stayed in - slap bang in the city centre (on a side street so quiet), very clean and rooms are comforable, with a TV and fridge (which was great). I wouldn't stay in a place where there's a shared bathroom again, just cause I'm a bit funny that way, but this was super clean so I didn't feel so uncomfortable about it.

There was free internet access which, again, I thought was great - especially after staying in expensive hotels who still feel the need to charge you to use their internet connection.

I wouldn't recommend it for younger backpackers or groups though, it's not that kind of place, but if you are on a budget and want somewhere to chill after a hard days sightseeing, then this is your place.
