“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

We had a 2 bedroom and 2 bathroom apartment, it was a beautiful apartment with nice views over the water
The bathrooms are quite small and pokey compared to the size of the rest of the apartment
Plenty of storage room and large comfy couch
I got this room at a reasonable rate but not sure i would want to pay full price because it didnt have the 'wow' factor
The trams are only a minute walk and there are plenty of restaurants close by. You can also get a discount at some of the restaurants by flashing your room key
It is in a beautiful location and quiet
I did find it odd there was no hotel book, you know the one that has what to do in an emergency, facilities ie, pool, reception phone number etc
I would stay again at the right price

Spent a night here after a wedding in a one bedroom apartment. On arrival (2hours early) the lovely staff at reception were kind enough to let us check in to our room. The apartment was quite small but had all we could have wanted and was great for a couple. The decor was lovely - very stylish, modern and comfortable. The bed was also very comfortable. Lovely place in a great centrally located area of the Docklands - we hope to return.

Room Tip: Ask for a waterfront room.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

I am a regular visitor to Melbourne for work and often stay in a hotel. At times I am able to bring my family along with 3 kids. Rather than squeezing into a hotel - this is a fantastic option.

We booked through Wotif.com and ended up with a 2 BR apartment for 2 adults and 3 kids. The third child slept on a blow up mattress as it was only for 2 nights. The apartment was fantastic - roomy, great views over the water and towards Etihad Stadium, and an easy walk to work for me.

Shopping is handy - the family went to South Wharf and I had an easy walk to work in the CBD.

We had pre booked a car park so it was an easy park and secure. Overall I recommend these apartments but like everything else - shop around for the right price.

These apartments are a good alternative to a hotel if you are staying for more than a couple of nights or with a group of people.

The apartments are modern but there is no wow factor, they are pretty standard. We had to walk for quite a while from the reception area to another building where our apartment was located, this would be annoying if you were only staying for a short time. Docklands is still a bit of a ghost town especially at night.

Overall, nice apartments if you want to stay in this part of town.

Spent three nights in a three bedroom unserviced apartment with friends, it was large, clean and comfortable with great views over the waterfront. The only complaint was the showers that kept going cold then hot again after a few minutes. The location was great with a free city loop tram leaving from just out the back every 10 minutes, and plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. Etihad stadium was only a 10 minute away.

Dear notafussytraveller,

Thank you for staying at Grand Mercure Docklands and for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor.

I am pleased to hear that you enjoyed the precinct in Docklands and that you found the apartment clean and comfortable. I am disappointed to hear that the our reception team did not recommend our optional mini service facility during your stay with us and that your showers turned cold after some time. Our maintenance team will look into the cause of this.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Melbourne in the near future.

Despite reading unflattering reviews regarding the construction outside we loved our three night stay. Our studio apartment was modern and tastefully decorated and contained everything we needed.....and more! I had no intention of using the washing machine, dishwasher or ironing board nor the fully equipped kitchen! Although not in the city centre, the Docklands apartments are surrounded by a huge array of restaurants and a mere 2-3 minute walk from the City Circle tram which is a great free service that gives you a guided tour around the city. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Grand Mercure ticked all the boxes for us and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it as destination.....we will be staying here again!
