“Enjoying Melbourne”

The Docklands accommodation was well located, clean & tidy and allowed us to visit Melbourne and still have some space larger than a Hotel room I have stayed here several times and would stay there again.

I hate water saving shower heads. The ones installed in these nice apartments are of a worse kind. You can stand for half an hour under shower and still wonder whether you are wet already. Crazy stuff. And it gets even more interesting when you try to wash off the soap.
Construction noise outside starts really early in the morning, they build new apartment building next door and a road on the other side.
Beds are hard.

We stayed here for a bit of a get away late Jan 2011. We were upgraded to a two bedroom apartment on the 17th floor of the Nolan building and it was lovely. The views from the floor to ceiling windows were an added bonus and the balcony was a great way to spend time admiring the view of the inner harbour. Apartment was was quiet and totally what we needed. Great location for walking around the waterfront and also serviced by good tram links (free circle tram) or a short walk to other tram links on Bourke St etc. Leaving our bags at reception for the last day was no problems either and there was free internet in the reception area too. I would definately recommend this particular building within the Docklands apartments.

As we expected, given this being a Grand Mecure, for a top quality apartment we were suprised to find an average standard of cleanliness (benches not fully wiped, shower tiles ?) and various parts of the kitchen in need of repair (fridge opening broken, pot drawer joinery broken therefore difficult to open). Also the beds were very hard, with springs easily felt and of a standard expected at a lower star level.
That aside, the views, quiteness, locality were all great and would recommend the hotel based on this if I could not find an alternative.

Very good rooms and quite comfortable. View not the best if you were staying for pleasure however good for business purposes. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Always ask for a view and ensure you get a tax invoice/recept for your stay.
