“Good location, decent value (at least on a weekday)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

In an expensive city as Melbourne, I doubt there's a place just as nice as this place for the price...at least on a weekday...on a weekend night the price was double when I visited...even though it's more ideal for a longer stay, it's totally fine for a night...rooms are spotless, roomy, and there's a fridge and kitchen...staff were efficient and helpful arranging transport...the location is superb in the central area...

Went to Melbourne for a business trip for a few days and stayed at this place. I think the common thread amongst all the reviewers is how great the location of this place is. Indeed it was, with Lygon street behind, straight down was the CBD and Queen Victoria Market are within walking distance.

Seen some complaints about the staff, wellllllllllllll.......... i guess they're not 5 star hotel friendly, didn't remember them smiling much, but they do acknowledge you when you're at the counter and checking in and out was no fuss at all. For me, as long as the check in and out process is fast and smooth, its A-OK. I dont need the staff to treat me like royalty.

For an expensive city like Melbourne, I would say the rooms are averaged price.

Don't expect much of a view from your room though, i was facing the alley right next to it and another colleague of mine faced a parking lot. But I was there on business and if i were travelling there on leisure, i wouldn't be staying in the room for much anyways. If you want a grand view etc etc... then i would suggest you pay double for a 5 star hotel. Am I right?

Rooms are very standard with all the necessary amenities, most importantly they are very clean and so is the toilet.

I would stay here again. :)

Stayed here with my friends, fantastic location close to everything. Trams right outside the door, CBD, Lygon street and the Queen Victoria Markets are within walking distance from the hotel.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and totally spotless. Though something needs to be done with the elevator requiring the hotel room card to work as it didn't always work but after a few times it did and we found ourselves helping a lot of other guests work it out as well. Other than that we would stay there again upon our return to Melbourne.

I had read reports on this hotel and was a bit dubious as they weren't all favourable. I found the hotel to be very clean and adequate for our needs and the staff to be very helpful although once we checked in we didn't need to contact them. The 2 bedroom apartment, although small was roomy enough for 2 of us, would have been a bit crowded with more even though the apartment was for 3, the lounge only sat 2 people so if there were three one would have had to sit one on a dining chair. Overall was very good. The mirrors in the bedrooms were in the wrong place, had to stand on the bed in the single room to see a whole body and move the bed to see in the double room, not a big problem though.

Room Tip: We were on the top level but still heard street noise, not so much on the weekend but very noisy on...

Ideally located in city centre (just outside CBD) and within easy walking distance of Victoria Markets, Melbourne Gaol and tram stops for the free tourist tram. The kitchen has all you need to cook light meals and the shower has great power. The double bedroom was rather tight but had plenty of wardrobe space while the single room was not quite as cramped and had a desk. The private parking is almost next door. It is a bit of an inconvenience on arrival but perfect after that. You need to check in to property to obtain a keycard to gain access and street parking is at a premium if you arrive during business hours. Reception staff are really helpful. Internet access available (wired) - pity there is no wi fi. However, I would recommend this property if you need a clean, comfortable, safe and centrally located place to stay for a few nights in Melbourne.

We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment with our three-year old. it was great. Warm, comfortable, clean and close enought to the things we wanted. And not far from the free historic tram! cafe downstairs was great too. They are not open on Sundays.

The Arrow has self contained apartments. I have stayed in both their big two bedroom (lots of space & beautifully appointed kitchen) and the small one bedroom and twin bedroom (tiny). The apartments are clean and comfortable. The smaller ones are ideal for anyone on their own and the big second bedroom one is perfect for a family .
The best thing about the Arrow is that it is within easy walking distance of the city central and of Lygon St . Alternatively, there is a tram right at the door.
It is very economical compared to other self serviced apartments this close to the city.
