Although you might be tricked into thinking that this lovely little boutique hotel is situated at the wrong end of the CBD, you would be wrong. The building appears to have started life as offices for the union movement, but it has been tastefully renovated to provide nice rooms in a quieter part of the city. What it lacks in facilities (there is no formal dining area, just a self-service cafeteria area) the staff make up with their enthusiasm to make recommendations, and to hear how you liked wherever you have gone. There are, in fact, several, reasonably priced eateries within steps of the hotel, reflecting its location just a bit out of the more luxurious end of the CBD - which is still within very easy striking distance, as is the rejuvenated waterfront. Melbourne's propensity for situating exciting shopping and restaurants down alleyways makes venturing down the "in-between streets feel safe, which hopefully it is! A great spot, at a good price, with enthusiastic staff; what more could you ask.
