“Family stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

We stayed in a three bedroom apartment in Southbank. It was amazing and would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Melbourne. Apartment was clean, and had everything we could need. The view was amazing. Check in was quick and no fuss. We booked through a secret deals on the web.

Room Tip: Had a balcony overlooking Southbank, fantastic!

Very close to everything ... was in a three bedroom apartment with six people and it was very spacious and none of us got in each others "hair" ... we were up high so the night skyline was fabulous ... if you are scared of heights be warned they have ceiling to floor windows in the bedrooms and dont go out onto the balcony ... but Im sure you will request a "lower floor" apartment anyway. The little supermarket across the road is very expensive but good for essential items. Wait and get your basics from the markets ... The shuttle from the airport takes you right to the door and will pick you up on your return - just ring up the day before and book. Pay by cash. They picked us up at 5am in the morning so its a great service.

Room Tip: Corner apartments on roadside have great views of the city ... and less noise.

We liked the apartments, but there is very little room in there to move. They have tried to incorporate everything so there is so much furniture you can hardly get around. They are really modern and very convenient and clean and well presented. Nice full length windows with lovely views across Melbourne. Accross the road from the Crown Casino, short walk to SouthBank and tram right at the door. A very handy convenience store in the building below which also includes bottle shop. Good value for money and very good service.

Room Tip: The higher the better the view of course.

My husband, daughter and son in law and bub have just spent 3 days in Melbourne for a birthday celebration. We booked 2 studios together, and booked through a secret stay. We were very impressed at the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, as we arrived before check-in time.We were able to leave our bags, and they called us after putting a priority room clean through ,so we could attend to the baby before we headed out for a long lunch. The rooms were spotless, and included convection microwave, washer/dryer combo, hotplates, and plenty of crockery and utensils, including mugs ! yay ....how I hate those awful cups found in most hotels.
Although not large there is room for a small lounge, and a good size TV which is wall mounted,and desk with internet etc;
A bonus was that we could lock a door outside our 2 rooms, and so leave the stroller in the hallway, and our door open for "toddler entry" to nan and pop.
The hotel is only a 2 minute walk to Victoria markets, the free city loop tram, and Melbourne Central. There is an IGA close by for convenience, and a small cafe underneath, although we had breakfast there one morning and were very dissapointed. Great stay and thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in studio rooms 401 and 402. Bright and plenty of light. Double glazing cuts out most of t...

The guidebook we used described the June weather in Melbourne as generally grey and miserable. For UK visitors think October/November! It was cold and often grey but at least it didn't rain on us. Apparently we were lucky in that regard.
The Melbourne Short Stay Apartments provide apartments in one of, I think, four or five tower blocks. If like us you arrive by taxi you'll have some way to roll your suitcases - about 400 metres along city streets in the dark for us! Our apartment was scruffy, faded and generally a little knocked about. The "sentinel" tower block we were in though was well run. It is of course mainly a residential block and "short stay" staff operate from a separate office. There were a few minor problems and when we finally raised them with staff they were sorted out quickly.
Trams can be found quite close but it took us some time to familiarise ourselves with routes etc. There's a small convenience store just around the corner that can provide basics if you need them.
We always eat out in the evenings and Melbourne has what seems like hundreds of good restaurants. All of those we visited were good anyway. South Bank is probably the best place to go in the evening although if you don't want to go far there's a small Italian restaurant "Olla Mesa" on the corner near the apartments where the food is excellent. The service seemed a little eccentric though. Visit and you'll know what we mean.

We stayed at Melbourne Short Stay Apartments in City Road South Bank Melbourne and we were very pleased with the accommodation. First I would like to mention that the staff at Melbourne Short Stay Apartments were very pleasant, welcoming and friendly. As for the accommodation, the apartment was very clean, with two bedrooms and a great kitchen. The living area was great too. The location was excellent, handy to all South Bank attractions, and close to the city square. There was a Food Works supermarket just over the road for groceries, and there was parking available if required, which we used. It was $99 for seven nights parking, which I thought was quite reasonable. The apartment had awesome views of the city, all around, (we were on the 34th Floor), and it had fantastic heating which was very comfortable. The only other thing we would have liked in the apartment was another toilet as it only had the one toilet/bathroom, but overall we would definitely stay there again. Super !!

Room Tip: High floors had great views of the city

We stayed at Melbourne Tower, which is on the same side as the office. Room 152, 15th floor. The apartment had everything we could ask for, we knew prior that they had basics and we were to supply food etc, this is the same for many apartments. The rooms were very clean and spacious. With a good view, to be honest we didn't stay inside alot as we were too busy checking out the city. The layout in this apartment was fine(I had read some were near the front of the apartment). The bed was so comfortable I wanted to take it home-had the best nights sleep. Southbank, Crown Casino very close, we went to see a footy game at the MCG, which was fantastic, we walked to MCG from the hotel, it took approx 30 min, the free tram is not that far either so getting around to other parts of the city is not a problem. Great pub meal can be found at PJ O'Briens in Southbank. We were very happy with the apartment and found that the staff were more than happy to help us. They booked a shuttle which takes you to the skybus and followed up when the shuttle was running late. I couldn't find any negatives with Melbourne Short Stay. We would stay there again.
