“Nice place, but not for business travellers...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2011

Pros: The location and views were great, the amenities were nice (the gas kitchens were excellent for example), the price was excellent, and the staff tried hard to help.

The Cons: The equipment was the very cheapest (eg. broken A/C), the internet worked intemittently, the elevator security system kept you from meeting in a colleagues room unless you were escorted by them, the one phone and the internet all plugged in only behind the TV set (forcing you to use a laptop on the floor and not the desk), the windows allowed a great deal of sound through.

All in all, if I wasn't there for business (no colleagues or laptop), I would have been quite happy, especially considering the price

Thank you for taking time to review our property.

We agreed that our business and leisure traveler needed the option of being able to access the internet from any location from within the apartment.

I am pleased to announce that all our apartments now have wireless internet access.
The rollout of this significant infrastructure has taken a little longer than we would of liked, but now ALL Melbourne Short Stay Apartment across all our locations have the this high speed facility.

In relation to the inability to access floors other than the one you are staying on. We accept this may create some level of inconvenience, although we believe this is far outweighed by the high level of security this creates for our guest.

Thank you again for your review

Kind regards
Stuart

We’re never disappointed when staying at the MSSA. As usual, friendly staff, great views of a fantastic city, excellent facilities and at a reasonable rate. We asked for a high apartment with a good view and got the 35th Floor overlooking the CBD. Car parking is $15 a day extra. Can’t fault them overall and the Southbank location is very convenient for the CBD and for sitting out at my favourite place in the whole world – the south bank of the Yarra opposite Flinders Street station.

We stayed in the Short Stay apartments on Bourke St. We had a two bedroom apartment and were happy to find it had two bathrooms! However, the shades on the windows are hopeless. Once the sun starts to come up around 5.30 the whole room was filled with light. Even in the evening the neo lights from across the street lit up the room, so much so that I could comfortably see and walk around the room without having to turn a light on! In addition, we stayed for 7 days and the room was not serviced in this time. If you can live with the above, then the apartments are a great place to stay!!

We had 2 apartments for a long weekend stay. Got a free upgrade for one of the apartments using our entertainment book, very good. So we had a 2 bed apt on 10th floor, and 3 bed apt on 30th floor of southbank one.

The apartments were very clean, just like the pictures, with modern furniture. Good kitchen, stainless steel appliances, dishwasher, but no frypan. They give you a good supply of dishwashing powder etc. Beds were comfortable, pillows good. Could not work out how to use airconditioner, until we rang reception and told us to turn switch on out on the balcony! Sound proof rooms very quiet, double windows too, stops traffic noise. Friendly, helpful staff, and concierge.

Parking secure within complex. $15 per night for parking. It is a secure complex, have to use key fobs to access building, lifts and carpark, this was good. Pool was good, a little cool perhaps. This complex has permanent residents so we felt a little out of place, and would not have used the gym as there were many residents using it.

The location is excellent, walking distance to casino (300m), southbank promenade, arts centre, gallery, convention centre (500m). Tram around the corner takes you into the city. Used room service (from local gourmet to go) and it was very good value, hot and tasty. Bottle shop and little shop on corner, was a bit expensive.

Would have liked to have had room service breakfast, but overall very satisfied and will probably stay there again.

Girls at reception performed their roles without demonstrating excellent customer service. The rooms were new with a modern fitout including a large comfortable bed. The location close to all transport, the markets and shops satisfied our requirements. It really did provide value for money with little not to like about the accommodation.

I travelled with 3 friends and we booked a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with Short Stay and it exceeded our expectations. The bedrooms we comfortably sized, with clean bed linen and spectacular views through their massive windows. The living room, where we spent the majority of our tie together, was spacious with a huge television and comfortable couches. We were fully stocked with toilet paper, tissues and a hairdryer as well as complimentary biscuits, coffee and tea. Everything that they guarantee you on their website is completely accurate and the staff so friendly. We paid $262 a night, which is relatively expensive in comparison to other apartments, but it was totally worth every cent. I wholeheartedly recommend this apartment to other travellers hoping to gain the most wholsome experience in Melbourne.

I have stayed in several apartment complexes around Melbourne over the last couple of years and to be honest they have all been very small and unhomely. This complex in City Road is the biggest one by Melbourne standards I have come across and we were very pleasantly surprised. Car parking is a dream and the complex itself is very easy to find. It is so so close to the Casino just across the road and around the corner and down the block. There is a convenience store just outside and down from the front entrance. Beds are very comfy. Bedroom to do back onto each other so may not be suitable for couples wanting a romantic holiday. A lot of high rise buildings around but they did not worry us. Elevators are very fast, we were on the 24th floor and takes no time to get to your floor. Very clean but they are not serviced apartments so you have to make your own bed etc but this was not a problem for us. Laundry located in the bathroom behind consentina doors and main bathroom is quite roomy. Parking costs $15 per day which unfortunately is pretty well standard in Melbourne is cheaper than most other apartments though. Melbourne Central and flinders Street station is about a 15 minutes or so walk away. You do have to check in a few doors up at a separate building which may be confusing but was quite easy to find and they then give you directions to your building and carpark entrance etc which is a little bit out of the norm. Would definitely stay here again.
