From the time we drove into the Langham's driveway to the time the door of the car was opened for us to leave, we experienced 5 star service & smiles all the way.
Interestingly, my partner and I had been looking for a 5 star hotel in Melbourne for a 3 night getaway, found a deal at the Westin but after stuffing around for too long, the deal finished ~ darn we thought but the Universe had other ideas!
Checked out the Langham (there were others we looked at but this seemed to be another perfect choice), it was in a perfect position in town, Southbank, on the river, so on checking their website, a similar deal except included with the pay 2 days stay 3, we got breakfast every morning AND parking! Wowee. Glad the special with the Westin had finished coz we got an even better deal ~ think about it brekkie in hotels usually about $25 pp, so we had $150 worth of value, plus parking which was $37 per day so $100 for parking, incredible!
Then the delights continued! We had booked the River View Room with king size bed so the upgrade was to a corner Deluxe Room, oh my stars a beautiful large room with windows on both sides of the room and what divine views. Ok so we live in Melbourne, but we take it for granted but not from this room, the vistas were beautiful and at night, wowee! It was a lovely surprise.
The room was fab, large room with heavenly bathroom (two sinks which gave us heaps of room to get makeup on), the toot (toilet) had a window view, something I adored! Not sure if people down 18 floors got a look at my tukus, ha!
Sadly the pool was going retiling so we didn't get to try it out (we're water babies) but they had arranged for patrons to visit the nearby Quay West swimming pool and spa which was a lovely offer which we took up and were pleasantly surprised with.
Huge LCD screen with cable channels, lighting was superb (lighting is often crap in hotels), dark at night and silent as a mouse to sleep in (probably being totally away from lifts helped and it was Sun-Weds).
Internet could be accessed at $9.95 per hour or $24.95 for 24 hours which was ok. I still think in a 5 star hotel it should come as part of the stay, but considering it was very reasonably priced.
Staff were lovely, helpful and seemed authentically nice.
Breakfasts were out of this world. We are foodies and everything you could want was there: cereals (all types of milk), fruit peeled and not, juices, coffee/tea (real coffee if you wanted it), eggs and omlettes, pancakes (all made then and there), porridge, baked beans to die for, breads a plenty, pastries, asian brekkie and a chocolate fountain can you believe it with fruit and sweets to dip; there I was thinking it was for kids and went and dipped myself, it was great fun!
We had a late check out 2 pm as part of the deal but the divine staff were so accommodating as we were seeing the Jersey Books at 1pm so they came on the dot to pick our bags up (lovely bellboy and gal), kept them for us and little car still in parking, so we could come back and pick up when finished. How perfect and just what you want when you stay at a hotel.
I was so impressed and I'm a snob when it comes to hotels. This place wins hands down for so many things. We will definitely be back for a city stay. Thankyou Langham for exceptional everything!
