“A very Classy Affair....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2009

The hotel is a very huge n also a very beautiful property. I'd been to this hotel for my Honeymoon n trust me the hotel offers everything that a honeymooner could ever require. The staff n managers are very courteous n friendly. I also got a free upgrade to a suite when they realized i was on my honeymoon and we also got a bottle of champagne on the complements of the hotel. There is an amazing variety of shopping n has everything from perfumes to all top brands. 3 floors for shopping is a paradise for ladies. Also the hotel has a huge Casino so that it keeps the men entertained as well. The best part about the hotel is that it has at least 20 restaurants, 15 Bars n has a huge Food-court where they have food from around the Globe. It makes u drool n eyes pop out. These restaurants have also taken care of people like us who r vegetarians n offer a wide variety of cuisines. There are also Cinemas n Theaters which offer very good entertainment for tourists. The rooms are posh n exclusive. They have plush interiors and provide u with a comfortable bed. The bathroom has a jacuzzi n they have n inbuilt LCD screen right in front of the jacuzzi so that u can relax, enjoy ur TV n jacuzzi. The hotel is also Located in the heart of the city, its right on the river n everything is on walking distance from the hotel. I stayed on the 22nd floor n the views of the City r breathtaking. However i did not have any experience at the hotel that could bring out even a single drawback of the hotel.. A fantastic hotel experience...

Visited for 7 nights at start of 3 week holiday in Vic/SA. Room spacious and modern with fantastic views of city and river. Very clean, room service good. Found desk and bell staff to be very helpful. Pool area great as we had it to ourselves most mornings as there just before the F1 crowd. We had two kids aged 6 and 8 who loved the hotel and pool also. Can't recommend it enough! Only down point was that the hotel restaurant could have done with a touch more atmosphere but maybe just quiet at the time we visited.

I have just come back from staying at The Crown Promenade for 5 days over Easter. The hotel is clean, fresh and very modern- but a little dull and lacking in atmosphere. I loved the rooms which were nicely decorated and the view was wonderful (we looked over the city). The service was impersonal and so so- all a bit amateurish really apart from the South American doorman/concierge. The bar, restaurant and pool deck lacked any atmosphere at all and the preferred means of access is through the Casino (not my thing at all). We ended up just using it as somewhere to sleep at night.

The hotel seems to cater mostly to business travellers during the week and casino users- and if that is you then go for it.

One of the things we loved most about Melbourne were the little lane ways in the middle of the CBD which have lots of great shops and cafes and restaurants. Next time I stay in Melbourne for pleasure- I would stay on Collins Street or close to. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in Melbourne. We ate in some great restaurants, saw some wonderful musicals and loved the rejunevated National Gallery of Victoria.

I took my two teenage children on a spur of the moment trip to Melbourne and wanted to stay somewhere central but with class. We were there to experience Melbourne Cup Fever without going to the Races and it totally lived up to our expectations with people from other countries in their national costume, men and women dressed to outdress, cars to impress etc. We walked into Melbourne Central every day without any problem and there was a new experience to greet us along the way. I would not hesitate in advising everyone to stay there at least once. We actually extended our stay and didn't want to leave. Will be going back there again this year hopefully and taking my mother who is nearly in her 80s. It is a place for all with excellent accommodation, meals and service.

The hotel seems to be going for the sleek modern look and while its nice it comes across as a little cold and stark, a splash of color might help. The desk staff was effecient, and friendly. The bell staff was helpful. The hotel bar is a little cold, almost looks as if they aren't finished decorating, candles stategically placed might help, but the service was good. The pool staff was incredibly accomadating, although the pool area is nice enough, they really need more lounge chairs outside, we spent a week there and were only able to lay out 1 day due to a lack of outdoor lounge chairs. The rooms are nice, the shower was incredible and large. The location is a double edged sword, its in the middle of some great restaurants unfortunately its also in the middle of the casino area which has a variety of characters good and bad. Overall its not a bad place if you can get a good deal.

  • Liked — Proximity to some really good entertainment
  • Disliked — The lack of outside lounge chairs.

I was staying at the Crown Promenade with some girlfriends. Check in was fast, even though we were a bit unorganised!
The room was funky and fresh, clean.
View was the busy Melbourne city, which was actually nice for a country girl.
Location fantastic, Crown Casino a 2-5 minute leisurely stroll

Check in was efficient, but I was disappointed the corner room I was to be upgraded to for staying 3 nights did not materialize. The standard room was spacious enough and reminded me of most of the 4 /5 star hotels I have stayed at, credit should be given for the large size shower but the rest is not any different to what I would have expected for the price. The Deck area which includes the gym and swimming pool is very nice and nicely decked out with helpful staff. The hotel is nice and modern but I just found the whole place so souless, the staff are efficient, but robotic, no greetings when you enter or leave the hotel. The bar and restaurant lack atmosphere, so you end up going to the awful casino just to see other human beings when you are having a drink/ eating out. The good thing about the hotel is the location being right on the Southbank. Also be careful when you check out as I paid my expenses by cash, yet they also charged my credit card as well.
