“Nice hotel but not our cup of tea”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

This was booked by an agent and we didn't realize that the Crown Complex is all centered around gambling -- a turnoff for us. The room was well appointed, clean and bedding very comfortable. The location is convenient for touring the city and servive was fine. Breakfast is very overpriced.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the Yarra, The other side of the hotel has a view of all the freeways.

My partner and I stayed at the Crown Promenade for a family wedding, and were quite pleased with the hotel for its proximity to the city and the entertainment that the casino has to offer.

We got a good corporate rate through my work, which meant that we were able to stay in a deluxe room for less than $250. I'm not sure whether having to pay the full rack rate would change my view though.

The room itself was spacious, modern and clean. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to try the restaurant or other hotel amenities, but the staff were very courteous and I would be happy to return.

Hotel is a part of Crown Casino. Is quite nice but in our experience the rooms at the Metropol are better and were actually cheaper.
We only stayed a night then moved to the Metropol to try it out.
The best part we thought was the breakfast and we have stayed in a few parts (minus the fact their toaster took 4-5 times to toast the bread and there was a massive line).

What a wonderful peaceful place to stay. The quiet room on the 18th floor was luxurious, enticing you to stop and re-charge for just a while. The window seats are the best place to relax with a magazine or book and to soak up the amazing view of Melbourne. Once you have recharged there is so much within walking distance -cafes, DFO outlet shopping, Melbourne centre and the many restaurants in the casino.Trams and trains are also with in walking distance. For some delicious modern Chinese food try The Spice Temple in the Crown casino. Buffet breakfast has a huge variety of delicious food.

I stayed here in December for 1 week on a work trip. For the price paid ($170 pn) it was very good value. Front desk staff was a bit hit and miss, but this is the case with most places. Breakfast buffet was good value at $29, considering that it was cheapest of the 3 buffets available in the Crown complex. The omelettes made to order were excellent (better than the Sofitel). Breakfast (eggs and coffee) in one of the cafes outside the casino was not much cheaper.
The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not firm enough (again a fairly common problem). On my last day the quilt cover seemed to have mysteriously disappeared, but not a huge issue. Tea and coffee in the mini bar was not replenished by housekeeping during my entire stay. There is quite a wide selection of TV channels available. The shower stall is spacious, with good water pressure.
The hotel was quite clean.
I would recommend this hotel for leisure travellers who don't mind staying in Southbank. The business centre seemed permanently closed, with a sign directing guests to the general use internet stations next to the pool/gym. It is possible to spend your entire stay in the Crown complex. If dining in the higher end restaurants the bill can be charged back to your room.

Room Tip: Note it is not a non smoking building, so you need to ask for a non smoking room.

We stayed here for five days at the start of our holiday, the hotel is first class in every way,set in an ideal location on the south bank of the Yarra river which is in the process of redevelopment also close to the main shopping area. The hotel was immaculate in every way with an excellent swimming pool and gym. It was a perfect start to our holiday

Room Tip: Our room was immaculate in every way if all rooms are like the one we had you cannot go wrong
