“Nice Hotel in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

I have been to this hotel on a number of occasions now, spent one night on the wekend for my wifes birthday, the room was a twin room with two queen beds in the room, very clean and comfortable. The pool is heated and indoor, spent a few hours there in th afternoon. This hotel is one of three hotels of the Crown Complex, which has all thefacilities a person would want (Casino, lots ofresturants casual to fine dining, cinemas, bars/cafes, nightlife, shows, shopping etc.
This hotel is located in Melbourne, easy walking to all the shopping centres and sporting venues that melbourne offers.
Will stay here again

Room Tip: Twin room great for families

Arrived at 11am and expected to do a bag drop but we were able to check in straight away and go straight upto our room!

My friend and I stayed in a twin room and we came to Melbourne for a concert and a spot of shopping. The located was excellent in terms of being close to the concert venue (plenary room at the exhibition centre) and it was also close to public transport (including the free red bus!!) making it easy to get into the sights of Melbourne. We had great weather so also walked into the CBD on a couple of the days.

The pool and spa were awesome and was a great way to relax at the end of the day (and in the morning with sore muscles!).

The only negative we had were the sheets on the bed, it was if they were made of plastic and were quite uncomfortable and very noisy!!! Our twin room was big enough for the both of us to have a little bit of space without feeling as if we were on top of one another. An extra seat would of been nice, as there was only one seat in the room so if one person was on it the other person had to sit on a bed.

Once inside our room we heard no noises from other rooms or the hallway (or the iceroom opposite our room).

Was pleasantly surprised at the great location of this hotel - really close to the convention centre and south bank cafe strip and the cbd. The room was lovely (twin queen beds with a great view and a big window) and the staff were most helpful. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to my friends.

Spent 4 nights at this hotel over the Grand Prix weekend as part of a package.

Rooms:
Pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of the standard 1 bedroom apartment. We were accommodated on 11th floor in a room with a terrific view looking down Queens Bridge Street to the Yarra river and also overlooking the Crown Casino. King bed was spacious and very comfortable. Room proved to be very quiet despite being close to the lifts and cleaning station. Only real disappointment was that the bathroom, although spacious, offered no bath.

Service:
Cannot fault the service received. We arrived at the hotel at 10.30am in the morning and although check in is 2pm we were offered a room, albeit a smoking room initially. As non-smokers we thought we could tolerate the smell for the sake of access to a room as my partner had a bad foot and was having trouble walking. We rang Reception to ask if it was possible to be moved to a non-smoking room. They suggested we stay in the room until they found one for us. Within 10 mins a porter knocked at our door and escorted to another non smoking room 6 floors up. Reception and Bell Desk were consistently helpful with enquiries and bookings. Only criticism was that it took 45 mins to receive a pizza and nasi goreng dish ordered as room service at 11.30am in the morning.

Location:
Hotel is convenient to everything. We found it very easy to get a meal - there are 2 food courts adjacent to the casino which various take away options as well as an array of restaurants and bars within the casino or in the arcades adjacent. You can easily walk from the hotel across to the casino via a covered walkway between the two. The CBD can be readily accessed via tram from Clarendon St or Queens Bridge Street. Southbank is also an easy walk through the casino.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher level to avoid street noise and preferably facing the river.

We stayed at this hotel as we were booked into the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant and we could walk there in about five minutes.
The rooms in this hotel are very spacious and beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The location is great for doing anything around Southbank or South Wharf all within walking distance and the tourist bus around Melbourne also leaves from Southbank.
We used the crown casino car park instead of the valet parking and it only cost $10 overnight.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone wanting a really good hotel in the Southbank area.

Foremost, the hotel and its services is what you would expect from a hotel of such standard. What I found annoying is that the hotel charge guests for getting access to the WIFI services. After paying the price of the room, what is so difficult for the hotel to offer complimentary Internet access?

I have stayed in many hotels around the world in the course of my business /leisure travels and in most countries the Internet services is offered free to the guests. This is what we call the added value given to your paying guests. I hope the management of the hotel would seriously look into this query.

Cheers

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your recent stay with us.

Whilst it was pleasing to read you found the services “what you expected from a hotel of such standard” we were disappointed to read of your dissatisfaction for being charged for internet. We absolutely take your comments on board as we are constantly reviewing the service experience of our guests.

Kind regards,

Greg Moore

Me and my family stayed here during the Formula 1 weekend for 4 nights. We had the twin queen beds room and it's very comfortable. We are on the 7th floor with a decent view looking at Crown Tower and the street below. Hotel staff are helpful with baggage and very efficient check-in and check-out. This hotel will be one of our choice next time visit Melbourne.
