Beautiful 4.5-Star hotel next to the famous Crowne Entertainment Complex & Casino. Good service, nice big room & excellent view overlooking the bay. Walking distance (15 mins) to downtown & all other attractions such as Melbourne park (Australia Open), Federation Sq, Bourke St Mall, Chinatown, etc. If you drive, you need to do valet parking.

This hotel is great, we stayed there on our first visit to melbourne, the locations is great. it is driectly next to the crown casino and has a passage way that leads directly from the hotel to the casino floor. it is not only close to the crown but it seemed that every taxi drive to all the shopping locations took less that 10minutes.
the hotel itself is very clean and new. the beds are sooo comfy. i dont think ive everyslept so well. ic ant recommend this hotel enough.

“Modern hotel”

Large room on top floor with great views. Modern decor, large walk in shower, comfortable bed. Good breakfast included in deal on hotel's website. However, restaurant staff were not the best I have encountered and the concierge staff did not seem that knowledgable. Preferred service recieved at Sheraton or Crone Plaza hotels.

Nice swimming pool.

convenient for Crowne casino, shopping and restaurant complex. Can recommend Restaurant called Number 8.

“Nice and new”

I chose this hotel for our family's one night stay in Melbourne because it was rated No. 1 on tripadvisor and I received a reduced rate through a local voucher book. Overall it didn't dissapoint although we would probably go to an Apartment hotel for a longer stay as the room was small for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Three things really stood out as follows:
Excellent customer service - from check in to check out service was professional, efficient and delivered with a smile. Probably the best we've experienced in Australia for some time.
Pool spa - there is a nice bar where you can get wine, beer and spirits (although no cocktails). Sitting in the spa, it's hard to explain but you can lie back with the jet massaging your back and put your feet up on a footrest which is designed to accommodate people of varying heights. Very relaxing.
Bed - the MOST comfortable bed I have ever slept in - not too hard; not too soft - just perfect!
The hotel itself is located in Southbank where you'll find good restaurants. It's about a 15 min walk to the city and as the name suggests there's a walkway to the casino.
Our room looked out to the ocean but right in front of us were a series of busy freeways and a rooftop carpark. The room is well soundproofed so you don't hear the traffic but it's not exactly a relaxing view. The room was clean and modern. It had a large shower but no bath. The TV was disspointing - would have thought a new hotel would have large screen plasmas. $25 for internet. The pool area is small and could get crowded in busy periods. The gym, sauna, steamroom etc are all new. A really great Melbourne hotel option for a couple.

“The room, the view and the services”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2007

We stayed at the Crown Promenade Hotel for three nights. Overall this hotel was impressive! The first night we stayed in a standard room and it was already far better than some hotels. The room was big, stylish, comfortable and clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. Not many hotels these days have two queen beds for you in one standard room.

The second night we decided to move to a corner room. It is slightly larger but with only one king-size bed but the view of the Yarra river was superb. The bathroom of both rooms were similar--and of-course very clean and modern.

There were two things I felt they could have done better were, those convectional TVs. They should have used LCDs. Second was wireless internet connection. The floor I stayed in has absolutely no wireless connection. The only way to use the internet was to connect to the data port located at the desk.

Checking in was easy. Check-in staff were very friendly.

The hotel connects to the Crown Casino and entertainment complex with cinema and loads of restaurants. However, you cannot use the shortcut if you have a kid aged under 18, you have to cross the streets in front of the hotel instead.

The location was pretty good. If you don't want to go to the Crown complex, you can still head to the riverfront and there you can find so many restaurants and bars. You can also cross the bridge to the CBD or Flinder train station if you want to. If you don't want to walk then this hotel has a free shuttle bus for you to go anywhere in the CBD and to famous locations such as the Victoria Market or Chinatown. The staff who drive you are usually talkative, friendly and also funny. (These guys do everything from driving you to places, carrying your luggages and even solve internet problems on your laptops). Apart from the shuttle bus, there's also a nearby tram stop as well. It may be a little bit far from the downtown, but it doesn't take more than 10 minutes max to go there with any of the options.

It is also pretty close to the Eureka building where you can go up to 88th floor and see the whole city of Melbourne. It's pretty cool, it's one of the must-see in this city.

The breakfast was slightly higher than standard since it doesn't cost much and they have more selection of eggs. (As I'd prefer omelette than scrambled eggs)

I would stay there again if I happen to have to do something in the downtown Melbourne.

  • Liked — Extremely friendly staff, breakfast, room
  • Disliked — No wireless internet, only $25 a day on your desk only
