If you are used to the quality level of Mercure Hotels in Europe, don't think you'll get the same experience here. We read the other reviews before selecting this hotel but we are still asking ourselves if the people stayed in the same hotel as we did since we did not have a positive experience and found our room more than basic. Reception is a the street level where you enter through a small entrance, in a small lobby. We arrived quite late, just in time before they would close the reception desk - that's not usual to see a hotel of such a category closing its reception during night but there is apparently a Manager on Duty so they leave a phone there so you can call him. We got to our room on level 9, where the restaurant is also located. One of the cards to be used in the lift to access our level was not working ... so we already struggled with this. Then, when the doors opened, we immediately noticed that a lamp just in front of the lift was not working properly. We walked in a quite dark lobby to reach our room. We booked a twin room with a view on the city - when we discovered the view on the next morning we really wondered was "city view" means for them as the room was overlooking the market. The room is equipped with a kitchenette but there is only 1 pan and 1 sauce pan, 2 forks, 2 knives, 2 glasses, 2 small bowls, a small fridge and a microwave - this is what they call "fully-equipped". Housekeeping needs improvement: lot of dust on the cupboards, bathroom and room cleaned probably very quickly (the sink still had traces of soap each day and the mirror was not cleaned either). I still wonder if the curtains were dirty or if this was their actual colour. The sofa was not clean and we even found a razor blade under the cushion! Only 1 small towel and 2 big one, that's not enough for 2 guests in 1 room. Italian shower, enough pressure for the water, hot water so nothing to complain about. Beds are not really comfortable and small. Hard to sleep as we could hear the neighbour above walk in his room as if there was an elephant walking up there, then people slamming doors at night or speaking loudly (nothing to do with the hotel, it's just the people who are not well-behaving but there are hotels where the doors close more quietly than here)) and also the constant noise of the fridge and of the fan in the bathroom make it difficult to fall asleep. Breakfast is basic but in a nice room but you can ask for omelettes. The buffet is: cereals, fruits, bacon, potatoes, bread, and that's it. The free tram 35 stop is 5-10 minutes away from the hotel. You can take the free hotel shuttle service from the SkyBus if coming from the airport, and also to get back, it stops at the Ibis hotel situated next door. This hotel is certainly not a 4-star hotel and should not be compared to European Mercure Hotels which are of a higher standard. If you like comfort and service, this hotel is certainly not for you.
