“Beautiful view and close to trams!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013 via mobile

A total of 4 of us stayed in an apartment earlier this year. This apartment was well kept and allowed us to easily catch public transport into the main city. The rooms were nice, second room was a bit small. The only downfall was the shower, very temperamental and not very comfortable. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay for the price.

I have never checked into a hotel where the staff are so rude at the desk. first impressions, this place is a joke. they would do better to realise given the economic climate that it pays to have GREAT staff on the desk not bitter young women that don't seem to like their job. I had a 2 bedroom apartment which was ok but it all seems to hard for the complex to have things done smoothly. next time I'll be in CBD, don't know why I thought I should try something different. I'm going back to Hyatt

Stayed in a 2-bed, 2-bathroom apartment on level 15 of the Arkley block. Overall the apartment was great for us (family of 4) with loads of space, 2 good bathrooms and a full kitchen. We had a harbour view which was beautiful and the free tram stopped very close by. Minor complaints would be the distance from reception to the building (3 blocks pushing suitcases) and trigger-finger showers which were either boiling hot or meekly tepid. No issues with cleanliness or helpfulness of staff. Only a shame the weather wasn't good enough to enjoy the pool. Would stay again if we wanted to be in this part of town.

Room Tip: The higher up you go, the better the views. Harbour views don't get as much sun, though.

Last visit was with my wife in November 2012. An overseas friend joined us there for a few days. Again, we were NOT disappointed. OK, we were not up near the new building area but sorry, I have lunch in my home city sometimes and suffer that. The convenience is great - trams within spitting distance, the security, full kitchen facilities (if the dishes are dirty just stick them in the dishwasher for Pete's sake!), views have always been good - different angles of the narbour area. We have never found a problem with the admin people and have had very quick responses to any queries. Just so very much better than a few rather seedy hotels with larger prices.
I recommend strongly.

Room Tip: Talk to the management when you book so you know what sort of view you will be getting.

Arrived to have an enjoyable few nights for New Years, location was perfect for New Year's Eve. Was checked in by one of the managers that was incompenent in doing so, took well over 30minutes to check in. When finally arrived in room the the hotel booklet was out of date and targeted at a sister hotel. The television does not hook up to foxtel, having to get staff to link it as there are no current instructions.
When setting off to enjoy New Years, noticed the apartment door would not lock. Contacted the number left, spoke with the other manager that belittled me, and made me feel like an inconvenience, like i was making it up that the door does not lock! he was stating no one was on site so too bad- even with valuables in the room & not being able to lock the door!
Eventually the manager agreed to come to site (he was missing his night, although as was I) , when they arrived they actually realised I wasn't lying & the door would not lock they managed to swap our room.
In the swapped room noted multiple urine stains on the doona!!!!!!
I have being disappointed right from the start & I will not be returning!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having contact with both managers & there
Staff , you are made to feel inferior of them! I paid descent money especially for New Year's Eve to miss out on 2 hours of the night due to the apartments not locking!!

Having stayed in the Docklands many times before, this was the first time I have stayed in the Grand Mercure Apts. & definitely the last. Dirty room (dishes from last guest/garbage not done), NO view other than construction site that fired up each morning at 545am! Parking allotment ended up in a $66 fine as misunderstanding of three spaces to the left off of a hand drawn map from the front desk. No compromise on payment - left to deal independently. Young & disinterested staff at these complaints. AWFUL.

Room Tip: Choose one in another apartment. Construction surrounding, not close to finish. When it says harbour...

We stayed in a three bedroom apartment for 4 nights. The view was magnificent over Melbourne and the Docklands. Great position as close to a good selection of restaurants as well as Harbour Town shopping and a Safeway supermarket. There was also a small convenience store just around the corner.
Had an issue with the DVD player not working and within half an hour someone came up to swap it over. Unfortunately the replacement also didn't work. The following day someone came to fix it and got it going.
Some of the furniture was starting to become worn and cupboards had scratches etc but this obviously didn't effect our stay.
Our one big gripe was the lack of cooking utensils. Our apartment didn't even have a potato masher. We also needed to ask for more cuttlery and were given some straight away.
Overall we were happy and we would stay here again.
