“Altough a little rough around the edges,”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

it's a fine place to stay. We were there a week and found the staff to be unfailingly helpful and pleasant. However, we had booked a king room and were put in a room with two single beds. But, they changed us the next night with no fuss. One room had a comfortable chair, the other did not. One had a toaster, the other did not. Also rectified with no fuss. But worst of all was the internet. Poor signal in both rooms. When you could get on, you'd be bumped off without notice. The signal in the lobby was great, so you can make do. Free internet is good, but it should work as well as if it were being charged for. Nevertheless, nice place, great staff and location. Free on premises parking is also a plus. Good value.

Dear BJ-HJ

The internet service is an issue which is being worked on and we are keen to get this resolved as soon as we can. Toasters have now been placed in all rooms and suites.

Thank you for acknowledging our staff who genuinely aim to attend to each request and find a solution to any issues raised.

Car parking will remain complimentary until we are able a higher level of facilities.

This was our first stay at this apartment hotel. Arriving late in the evening we were surprised at how quiet and deserted the location was even though it is at the edge of the CBD. We were initially apprehensive but satisfied after staying 3 nights. This new property is located next to the QV market (a 5 min walk) and one block down from the hotel are lots of restaurants serving Asian cuisine as well as Asian food stores, IGA and convenience stores. You also have easy access to the tram lines The area however caters more for the student population. Melbourne Central Station is a 10 min walk away and if you like walking, it takes about 25 mins to reach the main shopping area of Melbourne CBD. Check-in was a breeze and our room was on the 9th floor with a view of the QV parking lot. We had booked a studio twin room and hence space was limited. The kitchennete was located just inside the room with the bathroon on the opposite side. There is a wiring desk and closet which shares space with the twin beds. The bathroom has a shower cubicle and above the sink is storage space for toiletries. Apart from the kettle jug, microwave and a stove, no toaster is provided. Coffe/tea however is available. This studio room has large windows and roller blinds that give you shade and priivacy. Overall it is a good place for a short stay.

Dear tina p

We are glad to hear that after some apprehension on arrival you found the location of Pegasus to be near to a range of Melbourne’s offerings and transport options. The area is fairly quiet which allows for easy access and minimal exterior noise.

Our toasters were delivered this week and are being distributed at present; hopefully we will be able to welcome you back when you next visit Melbourne.

Regards

It is not a bad hotel to spend some days in Melbourne. Good location, clean and new. But they have opened the place too soon and there is still a lot of things to be completed. While the premises are still like that prices should be also non completed.

Dear Morolian

We are glad you like our location and appreciate the new product and its cleanliness. The range of facilities will be extended through 2013 to complement the accommodation.

There are times when accommodation rates are higher than usual. The Grand Prix was on in mid March, this is a very high demand period for accommodation in Melbourne.

We booked this new apartment/hotel for two nights at the end of a holiday overseas, for two adults and our daughter. My partner and daughter arrived first as I had been delayed due to a funeral. Unfortunately they couldn't get into the room as it was booked under my name, so my first tip is to always try and list everyone under the booking so there is no confusion over who are the guests. Eventually they were allowed in. However, when I arrived the following night I found there was no bed for my daughter in the room despite us booking a queen bed and single bed. When we went to reception about this, the young, inexperienced staff looked at us blankly as if "what do you want us to do about it?" Well, Pegasus, I want your staff to give good customer service! We were later "upgraded" to a two-room apartment by the duty manager who told us was $900/night, yet on Pegasus' website no room costs that much! I wouldn't have paid anywhere near that for the room we were given. The room was nice enough, with good bed linen and kitchen amenities, but Pegasus is let down by its finishing touches - roller blinds haven't been installed correctly so look ruined, carpets were covered in paint from a bad paint job on walls, and the ceiling was only half painted! The procedure for getting into the carpark wasn'texplained by staff and you have to get out of your car, go into the reception and then ask to be let in - not good if you have small children and there's a line up of cars behind you in the street. Apparently this is being rectified in the future. There is only so long an apartment/hotel can blame teething problems, and please, don't bag out your staff to guests, it only makes you seem worse. Train them in service instead.

Dear T_LO10

Understandably a series of events did not result in a good stay at Pegasus.

We apologise for the delay on check in however we do require for all adults entitled to access a room be noted at time of reservation and duly registered; this is primarily from a security perspective.

The room allocated to your family was to have had a single bed set up for your daughter; it was not set up in time on for arrival. It is unfortunate we were not made aware of this when the room was accessed as we could have delivered the extra bed. The lack of extra bedding was advised to us on the following day hence the complimentary upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite; whilst this suite was not selling for $900 on the night of your stay it does attract such a rate during peak demand periods.

We attend to maintenance requirements we receive feedback from guests and as noted during daily servicing of accommodation. We are appreciative knowing of the blinds and paintwork issues in your suite as these have now been attended to.

Car park access will be managed with an electronic swipe system, as the system has not been fully commissioned we are currently offering complimentary car parking.

Our aim is to rectify issues as they are brought to our attention and also as identified during our daily servicing of accommodation.

I would love to give this apartment hotel a five rating but a few things let it down.

I stayed for five nights as a business traveller and picked this hotel because of the free wifi as I needed to work while I was there. Unfortunately, the wifi cut out after the first day (Friday) and could only be accessed from the lobby. Staff brought me a router and set it up in my room but it only worked for a short time. After that you had to take your laptop or other device down to the lobby to access wifi. It couldn't be fixed until a weekday however, even by Tuesday wasn't fixed. Very frustrating!

Unfortunately, when on thing goes wrong you look for other problems. Blinds were a bit fiddly and I agree with one other comment, that the a/c and TV were in a bad position. Could do with more than one bin in the room (only in bathroom). I had a broken ironing board but that was replaced. Could do with a business centre.

However, on a positive note the staff were great and very helpful. I liked the convenience of having a kitchenette.

Good location if you want to be close to the Victoria markets and Flagstaff train station. 5-10 minute walk to Melbourne Central shops and restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the lifts. Pick one away from the double rooms as neighbours with small children can...

Dear Junkster

Our apologies for the internet performance issues, we are working on a solution to manage demand so all guests have equal share of the internet service. The process of eliminating the cause is taking longer than expected however as we work through each step we are getting closer to providing a better connection for all.

We are in the process of repositioning televisions in all Studio rooms; the air conditioning has a number of settings and adjustments which we would have been happy to assist with. Roller blinds are unfortunately not of the standard we were expecting, these will also be replaced as we progress the fine tuning of our room facilities.

We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy our friendly environment, location and an improved product in the not too distant future

We needed to be in Melbourne for a few days and most of the hotels I looked at looked pretty expensive or fairly average but I found this new apartment hotel and we have been presently surprised . It is new ( in fact our room have a not to say we were the first guests to use that room) and the price was more Than reasonable..

It is close to the market and not too far to the rest of Melbourne and it made our stay pleasant and comfortable.

The hotel is still not fully complete yet so o restaurant or pool but apparently they are on their way.

All in all good value and would come again

Dear mjw777

We are glad to know you found Pegasus to be good value, pleasant, comfortable and close to Queen Victoria Market and Melbourne city.

Our restaurant, bar, 20m heated indoor pool, spa and gymnasium are “next on the list” as we continue to complete guest rooms.

We look forward to offering you more facilities when you next stay

27th Feb- 3rd March.
Saw this appartment cheaper on wotif, after i had booked directly with Pegasus, to their credit they matched the price. The rooms looked very nice, but they are small. There is a kitchen with a bar fridge and a 2 burner cooktop, but there is no where to sit and eat. The tv is in the corner of the room which is a bad spot as the person on the furthest side of the bed from the tv has difficulty watching it, i think it would be better if it was located under aircon. The airconditioner is opposite the bed, so you are freezing when its on and you are in bed. The bathroom needs to have a cupboard under the sink or a bench top,as there is no where to put anything like the hairdryer, makeup etc. We ran out of tissues and phoned for more, still had not arrived the next day, rang again.... it took 2 days to get the tissues. There is free internet which was hard to log onto and would drop out while using, and it had crashed on the Friday night and we were told it would be down all weekend as they were unable to get someone to fix it, so everyone had to sit in the lobby to get on. Location is good, close to city and Victoria Markets. The bed was comfortable with nice pillows and linnen. Found the staff to be nice and friendly.

Dear Punkin64

We are sorry to hear of the issues experienced during your stay, your feedback is valuable in assisting us to improve.

We have commenced the repositioning of televisions in our Studio style accommodation; the sets are being positioned on the wall as suggested. Studio rooms do not currently have a dining table and chairs; however once we have completed the repositioning of the TVs we will be looking at options to provide a dining table and chairs (as provided in our larger room types and suites). Bathroom cabinetry is being trialled in a few rooms with a view to finding a suitable solution. Wi Fi has been prone to issues due to heavy usage, steps are being taken to distribute access to internet services in a fair way so all guests may enjoy the facility. The air conditioning units have a few modes of operation and air flow direction, we would have been happy to assist with finding a suitable setting.

We are pleased to hear that you found the location to be good along with the comfort and quality of bedding. We look forward to welcoming you back.
