“Got a car? Head for the hills! (or Dandenong Ranges as is in this case)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

It is a worthy day trip as it is not too far a drive and it is very scenic drive up in the Dandenong Ranges. There are year round attractions you can enjoy such as the Puffying Billy Steam Train ride or if you are there in Spring you can see tulips in full bloom!

Nice eateries up in this area as well for breakfast or brunch or lunch or tea!

Yes I did eat my way through the Dandenong Ranges and also browsed through many a quaint shop up through there.

Nice thing was at the end of it all it was not too hard a drive back to my Melbourne City centre hotel.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

Beautiful partof Victoria with little towns and lots of European inspired cafes, restaurants, B&Bs and shops. Forests are tall and the birdlife are easy to find.

“More than a day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2013

The Dandenong Ranges is a great place to go to get away from the city.
We used to live in Emerald before moving interstate and have visited all over the ranges. There is far too much to see and do in the area, so the best bet is to contact the local tourist information as in reality, you will need weeks to see the whole area.

“Plenty of walks or even just drive through”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Something for everyone. Lovely bending drives through mountain ash forest. Plenty of short easy and harder walks. Small villages Olinda , Kallist, Sassafras for cafes / smal shops.Well worth a visit. Loads of picnic/barbecue spots

“Top of the World - Melbourne”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Very scenic views and beautiful vintage cottages all the way to Miss Marples. Had scones with jam and cream and tea for morning tea at Miss Marples. Lots of little shops to window shop. Abundant restaurants to choose from for example International, Irish pubs or German buffett (Cuckoo). A must for visitors from local or overseas. Recommended highly.
