“Melbourne Free”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

By day, you can enjoy walking up one side of the river through the parks, and joggers, towards the impressive array of sports arenas including the MCG, Rod Laver Centre, and former Olympic stadia, and then back on the CBD side, stopping at a bar or cafe before heading into the centre.of Melbourne. At night the riverside cityscape is bright and vibrant, and the views up and down the river from the higher floors of the harbour-side Hilton are particularly impressive.

“Pleasant walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

If you are in Melbourne CBD make sure that you walk along Yarra river bank. It is safe and generally clean. A lot of people do their walk or jog around this place. There are a lot of restaurants from high end to fast food around. You must see the bridge where locks are, I struggled initially to understand it and later I was told that couple hang a lock along the bridge's cable barrier as a symbol of commitment, romantic :)

It was a nice walk along the Yarra river and the showpiece on The Travellers as part of Australia's History is very interesting.

Spent the new year's eve there, had a wonderful experience! Lots of fireworks, and lots of people! This is the first time I saw that many people in Australia!

“A great way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

If you're running a bit low on funds, go to a supermarket and self cater. Walk along the Yarra, both sides of the Princes Bridge, and choose your favourite spot for a picnic. Here you'll be able to start up a conversation with someone from across the world or from up the street. We bring our dog here and he loves it; lots of great smells and birds to chase. There are lots of trees and benches and wonderful views back to the CBD. Rowing crews practise here every weekend. There are also places to hire boats if you're feeling energetic.
