“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

Location is alright, but except from that this place is not worth your money! It is dirty, noisy, I was there in the summer and the room was soooo hot I couldn't sleep... I'm sure there are much better options!

Good place to start your Melbourne adventure, the manageress Sam is Superfriendly and helpful as are most of the staff but this is ruined by 2 or 3 of the sour faced bad attitude staff members (but they don't get paid so....) the only thing that puts me off is the no drinking after 9pm to make you go down to U BAR which would be ok if it was cheap for guest (as expensive as most CBd venues) or wasn't a wall to wall cock fest. My advice stay here get involved with people and have fun for a week or 2 any longer and it will drain you

Dorm for quite silent and could get a good sleep. It was so dirty because of some messy girls eating in the room but as soon as they left the room was spotless. I did not have a plug near the bed so I had to leave my mobile charging on the other side of the dorm.

Good points - Great location, very funky, kitchen's alright, free rice and pasta is great. The staff were great and everything seemed pretty clean

Bad points - Bring ear plugs due to the central location the public transport is incredibly loud. This is not the fault of the hostel, just a warning. A pattern with Nomads is that the people are rowdy, so be warned. Great if you're ready to party. The staff don't seem to hugely enforce keeping the rooms tidy. Hard to consider a home.

However, I would recommend this place for a few nights. Does the trick and more than enough to get your head down and kip for the night.

If it's only bed to sleep that you're looking for, then it's fine. Cheap and very good location, especially to Southern Cross Station, free City Circle tram, and Aquarium. Food is an issue though, because it is situated further away, so take a tram would be wiser. Very near to Crown Casino too if you like to try your luck :p

Bedroom is alright for the price, lockers and luggage room available. Kitchen and dining areas a little boring though, especially the storage area which adds to the messy look.

I had no issues staying for 4 nights over there. It's not as noisy as others mention. But cigarettes smells is the thing i hate when i walk into the building or while waiting for the tour guide to pick me up at the corridor.. I would prefer if there's no smoking there as the smokes tends to enter the building easily...

Stayed here for 3 nights and the place is basically a converted warehouse or something. It was dirty, the bathrooms, kitchen was just disgusting! They offered free tea, coffee, pasta and rice, but that was left out all day and flys buzzing round. I stayed in a 10 dorm, mixed. The bathrooms were mixed also. Only good thing was they had free luggage storage . Plus staff were quite helpful . Was very noisy hostel. Trams stop outside, and pub next door, but it's a city, so it wasn't the worst thing!

Room Tip: Don't stay here.

We came here as got a great deal as we booked from nomads in sydney. the title says it all really, to be honest the staff here (well the ones i've encountered) have been really nice and helpful and havn't had any huge complications. The shower rooms were clean and very usable and havn't seen any cockroaches or the like in our room. Kitchen was clean-ish but thats down to annoying people not cleaning up properly after themselves. You do get the noise of the trams going past if your room is on the road but reception provide free earplugs so its all good. If i was in melbourne i wouldn't have a problem returning :)
