“Good location, and inside rooms are nice and quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Very handy location, nice new rooms. The cheaper 'inside' rooms are just right for a one night business trip, when you don't care about the view (or lack of) but do want a quiet and comfortable space to get a good nights sleep.

The check-in and out process needs some work. It may look cool to share the check-in space with the bar, but it can get a little confusing when there are a few people waiting. Tip for the hotel: pehaps better signage or some rope guides? Tip for guests: make sure you catch the eye of a staff member!

Room Tip: Cheaper 'inside' rooms are nice and quiet, but don't have a view.

Good location. Looks like the DoubleTree is new to this site and that there is still construction/building modifications going on.
The front desk is behind a bar - it's a creative concept and I like it - if only the front desk staff had a clue about what they're doing. Diamond status was not recognized and I was initially given a room prepared for three people (it even had a removable cot in it as if it were prepared for a family with kids staying in same room). Imagine I was told it was the only room left. I was going out for meetings so when Ii returned 4 hours later there was a new room ready for me. Best part about it was the bathroom, which I found to be well done.
Breakfast in the lobby restaurant was nice.
When I checked out the manager said the phone system had crashed so they're having calls redirected to someone's mobile phone. So as you can see the place is still getting up and running, and does have potential, so next time I'm in town I may give it another chance to see if they're ready for the prime time.

This newest addition to the Hilton chain in Melbourne is in an excellent central location right over the road from Flinders station, the heart of Melbourne
Just a short walk takes you to the most popular parts of Melbourne
The Hotel is still being renovated but this caused us no issues.
The rooms were very nice and even with a room with view over Flinders Street and the train station it was still very quiet
I would highly recommend as a base for any Melbourne vacation.
Price was very low but expect this will rise once renovations are complete and more people discover this hotel.

Room Tip: book a station view room to have excellent views of the river and Flinders Street Station.

Recently I came here with my partner for a getaway. This hotel is in a perfect location, right in the centre of Melbourne only walking distance from everything you want, federation square, crown casino, Burke street mall ect.

After a long drive down the great ocean road we were greeted by friendly staff who took our bags, effortless checkin and the yummy chocolate chip cookie.

The room was spacious with a beautiful view of the city filling the room in natural lighting (something I prefer in a hotel)

I ate at the restaurant only once although now I wish more than once. The menu has a arrange of tapas like meals, and when out meals came out we were not disappointed, the food was amazing.

Over all a great time had here I will be back.

Dear Snowbug 89,

Thank you for choosing to stay at DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne - Flinders Street. It is wonderful to read that you enjoyed your stay with us following your journey to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Road – what a spectacular trip and a must do for anyone that hasn’t been there!

It is pleasing to read that you enjoyed your dining experience at Platform 270 Restaurant. We are pleased to have gained the expertise of well-known Head Chef Tony Moss in heading up this establishment. Tony brings with him a wealth of experience outside of hotels which is exactly what we were looking for when creating this modern, funky and market leading food-trendy restaurant.

We shall look forward to welcoming you back to Melbourne and DoubleTree by Hilton sometime in the near future!

Kind regards,

Clinton Farley

Across the road from Flinders Station in a location described as vibrant. Nearby Degraves street have an awesome array of laneway action. The location of this property is bliss.

Our room rate was under $200/night for a newly refurbished property - this is like a brand new hotel. The decor is 2015 and the amenities modern and clean. Even a power outlet has a USB output for your gadgets to charge effectively.

The bathroom is pretty simple and looks amazing.

The bed seems to be a super king and the TV channels crisp to watch due to it being the modern IPTV stuff that new hotels are adopting. The WiFi is the only let down. At $29 a day, I kept off it (or a special of $9.99 for two hours). The complimentary wifi downstairs at the lobby is good.

This hotel offers all the usual hilton goodness including room service. The staff here are excellent and empowered to make your stay great.

One last thing - if you get breakfast in your room rate, take it - the buffet is well done.

My colleague and I were surprised at how good this property is and the effort in the upgrade has paid off. I'll be back.

Hotel is ideally located on Flinders right across from the train station. Walking distance to the CBD and all local shopping and attractions.

Well suited for business and pleasure trips.

The hotel wifi was not good at all, and it was also undergoing renovations, i stayed in March 2015 and the renovations were supposed to be complete by Feb 2015.

I didn't experience the bar/restaurant but it was very small but the decor was quite appealing, modern and inviting.

I would definitely stay again if in melbourne on business or pleasure

Dear apqueen,

Many thanks for taking the time to post on TripAdvisor. It is pleasing to read that you enjoyed your stay with us, in particular our location in Melbourne's immediate downtown CBD.

It is a shame that you did not get to experience Platform 270 restaurant however that leaves an opportunity for your next visit. Platform 270 employs Head Chef Tony Moss as the master of food creativity and flavours. Tony joined the hotel shortly after opening from a solid line up of experience in leading restaurants outside of hotels. Our goal with Platform 270 was to create a restaurant quite different to the normal (sometimes boring) hotel restaurant that many people walk past. We are currently offering a dining deal whereby if you dine between 5-7pm you will receive a complimentary bottle of wine between two* some conditions apply.

I hope that we will see you again at some stage in the near future. Once again thank you for taking the time to post.

Kind regards,

Clinton Farley

This Hotel is ideally located. Close to all major attractions. Within walking distance to Southbank. Our room was very clean, and the bed soo comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
The only downside is no Internet access available in rooms.
