“Citigate Melbourne Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

The quality and size of the room for the value was not good at all. Very small and a bit old. Service was ok and location good, right in the CBD of Melbourne so close to trains, MCG, casino and shopping. I don't think I would stay at this motel again because I can find a better quality/room size motel for same price if not cheaper.

I'm sorry to hear Citigate Melbourne didn't meet your expectation. Our standard room size is approximately 24 meters squared which is inline with our competitor hotels. Can I suggest a Cityview room for your future stays as they are around 26 meters squared and have amazing views of Southbank and the Yarra River.

Let us know if we can assist moving forward

Cheers - Kristian

Stayed for two nights and pick up a great deal through a travelzoo deal, which included bottle of wine and chocolate dipped strawberries. Perfect location to small laneways with great cafes and restaurants which is probably a better and cheaper choice for breakfasts. Couldn't complain at all about the room. Up on the 12th floor with a city view would be a good pick if you could pick your room. Very comfy beds and pillows. Bathroom facilities were pretty good. Staff seemed friendly enough but the foyer bar was not the kind of place to sit and have a drink in. All in all would stay again next time in Melbourne.

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and was not overly impressed. We paid almost $300 per night which in hindsight was about $100 too much considering the room was average and there was no breakfast included. The location is central but the facilities in the hotel were minimal including no wi-fi in the hotel rooms. We were placed in a disabled room so there was no shower cubicle and everything got wet after the two of us had showered. There was also no area in the bathroom to put your toiletry bag. Our view was of the rubbish behind the building. OK if you can't find anywhere else to stay but there are much nicer hotels with better rates that are not too far away.

We found the hotel easily, only a short distance from Flinders Street railway station. The front desk staff were helpful and the room was comfortable. The bathroom was clean and up to date. The view was of the next building, about 2 meters away. However there was little or no traffic noise.

I had booked this hotel before i had read some of the reviews. After reading some of the negative comments, i became rather concerned about what i had booked myself into,i was actually rather worried. However this was all laid to rest when i arrived at this hotel, i was welcomed by a nice guy at reception, whom checked in me really fast and gave me a map an showed me all the hot spots that melbourne had to offer.Entering my room was the real surprise....My room was excellent, clean, tidy, had exactly what i needed, every day my room was serviced,New Fresh towels,Toiletries were always stocked,Bed was always made an felt clean and fresh....I loved it, No complaints here....As for the view again,no complaints there !!Staff were always nice an welcoming, taking into consideration the godly hours i was coming back to the hotel from multiple nites of partying, the staff still managed to find the strength at 5am in the morning to Say good morning with a genuine smile....As for the location !!!!!!!! WOW.....if you want to be right in the heart of Melbourne, right by public transport, art galleries, yarra river, and waterfront dinning,THIS is The place........I will be returning to melbourne again in the nearer future,an will differnantly try to get a booking at this hotel.Awesum work Citigate....

Room Tip: I stayed in the 9th floor, very peaceful up there.NO Noise.Great for a Hangover !!!!!!!!!
