To view this accommodation from street level you could be forgiven for passing it by. The building itself looks like a converted old block of flats with a paint job. Parking is first come, first served squeezed up the left side of the complex. There's officially nine bays but by day's end three more can be pushed in around the back (which is the turnaround area as there's no room for passing).
Reception looks very low key but the lady was very hospitable. The stairs / corridors again are misleading as to what will be found upon entering the room. There is a public computer in the corridor with internet access though free wifi is also available within the rooms using the details found within the hotel booklet.
Our room was normally $195 for the three people. The entry is the living area / kitchen which had clean kitchen with all the necessary trimmings (oven, 4 hot plates, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, sink etc), small table and chairs for '4', a small couch and moderate sized flat screen tv. Bedroom 1 was a queen with ample hanging space and the ensuite (shared by all) which I must say was very small and probably the downside to the room. The basin is tiny and sits under the vanity mirror / cupboard so it's hard to get your head under there to rinse your mouth etc. The toilet is a bit of a squeeze (and I am lean) and the toilet roll fell of it's mounting (surely heard by others at 12am). I used the washing machine for one load and whilst it seemed to work fine when we returned later that day there was a sign saying out of order. How they figured that out I will never know (there were no instructions to say I did anything wrong). The shower cubicle isn't large and our shower head (whilst good flow and temp) would not stay horizontal so we had to leave it sticking up and shooting the water out further than usual. The other unusual feature is that should those in bedroom 2 wish to use the bathroom at night there is no door to bedroom 1 to screen entering the bathroom (dad didn't seem to care mind you).
Bedroom 2 has two singles. The room is a bit of a squeeze and you're doing well if you can easily access the hanging space. There's about 1.5ft at the end of each bed so no room for placing large suitcases flat on the floor. There are flat screen tv's in each bedroom.
Whilst the decor is very modern and first impressions are good, the room is very compact and not a lot of space to be had. They've done well with what little they had to work with. No views to be had and as we were there on a weekend there was no housekeeping.
Can't comment much on locality. My brother chose it for proximity to the hospital (where he is now working) in case he could not find a rental short term. Trams run 50m away but can't say how far the nearest stop is. The hotel grounds are uninspiring and the surrounding neighbourhood is unremarkable but the interior of the room is what ultimately leaves the impression. I can't say for sure I'd stay here again as I'd need to assess what else is around and how the prices compare.
