My Husband and I came to Melboure to celebrate my last Chemo treatment. we found the Grand to be a very nice Motel the room was a little tired in the bathroom but other than that it was great the bed was very comfortable, and the kitchenette we would use if we had stayed longer . we will be back thanks for the great hospertslity

I am definitely returning to the Grand Hotel. I had often admired this hotel from the outside as it is a really grand structure built in the 1890s. History abounds in this beautiful buildling of enormous proportions. The ceilings are so high that in the room I stayed in a mezzanine floor had been built which housed the bedroom, It has incredibly long hallways which from historic records represent the Flemington straight - it was built on the former racecourse and the decor reflecting the original era of the building is absolutely incredible. There is a rumour that the West Indies cricketers once played cricket up the hallways! The grand staircase is heaven - ask the concierge for a peek ( it is located in the private area of the hotel). Having a love for all things historic I was in my element here and I am planning a weekend back here as soon as I get some time off.

The room was a studio appartment. The layout of the room was very spacious. A very generous kitchen area and bathroom. Unfortunately, other than a desk which I used for working my computer, there was no other table or area suitable for dining. The room was very dusty and had some maintenance problems. I think it had not been used for sometime. I booked this at short notice when my flights had been changed so perhaps I will stay again sometime

Great location for an event we were attending at Dockalnds. With the long corridors, we had a 60 meter walk when we got to our floor. Room was ok, but furniture was a little tired. Would have liked a TV in the upstairs bedroom. Air/Con was great - in the bedroom it came thur the floor which was great when the temp outside was 38 degrees. Would have liked an in-room floor option, but if we planned it, would have brought food to serve/cook in our kitchenette. Couch needed some attention, shower was a little low for me. Is great to have a seperate bed area.

Wonderful spacious rooms with a lovely kitchen. Loved the mezzanine floor. really appreciated the bottle of wine as it was our 40th wedding annivsary so a lovely surprise. Always admired the building and wondered what it would be like inside certainly was not let done. It certainly was above my expectations. would highly recommend. Great location certainly visit again. Loved it

Have stayed at numerous Accor properties over the years and generally the experience has been positive ..... overall the stay at this property was disappointment.

On a positive note the location is excellent; just a short walk from the main railway/bus station.

We arrived around 10.00pm in the evening for our 2 night stay. The checkin was lengthy and not welcoming - whilst not unpleasant it was certainly very mechanical. This lack of warmth was generally repeated with all staff we came in contact with during our stay (we certainly never felt we were valued guests). We were told we had a business package but not told what this included which was later impacted on our breakfast.

Our room (on the 5th floor) was spacious (and very comfortable) with a full kitchen (the hallways unbelievably wide from the buildings former life as the Railway headquarters). The bathroom was small - almost cramped.

The information in the room said the hotel bar was open until 11.00pm (which in itself seemed early on a weekend in the middle of the Melbourne). We went down for a quick drink at 10.35pm to be told that the bar was closed (there was another couple finishing their drink). On the second night we went down at 10.00 and were still drinking our first drink when at 10.20 were told it was last drinks. Not really what you would expect in an international hotel in the centre of a capital city.

We arrived at breakfast to find it was not a buffet but rather order off the menu - we just orderd a cook breakfast feeing that if we had a full breakfast it would work out too expensive. Very disappointing at check out to find that the breakfast was included in the "business package" - we feel this should have been explained.

There is a guest library on the ground floor .... a nice touch. Information in the room said there were complimentary papers in the library. Perhaps .... but clearly not enough as we weren't able to access one during our stay.
