We stayed in a Bellerive room, I have stayed in standard room previously and let's face it, you get what you pay for. The room was unbelievably quiet, the only external noise was from the occasional door in the hallway or if we had the window open, but as it opened to a closed courtyard, it was not noisy. I couldn't detect the sounds of other occupants in their rooms or bathrooms - something which usually drives me nuts even in far more expensive accommodation. As for the bathroom, it had the best shower (only Westin has better), no annoying bathtub that is never used to climb in/out of as well as a great showerhead. Back to the window, fabulous to be able to leave open at night (with safety) for fresh air and not have to endure air conditioning. The room was clean and bed comfortable, whilst a small room by modern conventions, certainly more than enough space for 2 people on a short trip. As regular Melbourne visitors, we've stayed at many hotels across Melbourne, but I think we've found our new favourite.
