“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

The Victoria Hotel is in the perfect location for shopping and for walking to the best eating spots in Melbourne CBD. The rooms are quite old fashioned and the bathroom was tiny. But we didn't spend much time in the room. The gym is small, but functional. The staff were all very friendly. The breakfast that was included in our room rate, was fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples wanting good value, right in the centre of town.

Recently stayed in Novotel Melbourne on Collins. Not much value for money. Bottom floor with view of garbage bins. Tiny room with barely space to walk. Excellent location but hardly vale for $180 a night.

Pro's - Fantastic location it really is, walk out of your hotel and you're in the heart of the city. It is very well priced too making it very affordable. They do have family rooms. If you want really cheap you can have the shared bathroom experience.

Cons - Drunken idiots usually wake you at 3am coming in from the clubs. Hotel staff need to speak to loud people as they come in to tell them to be quiet and courteous. And if one more person tries my door handle at 4am i'm gonna loose it. Garbage truck sometimes wake you early also collecting trash as you can hear them from your window

Room Tip: pay a little more and get away from the trash, will get a better sleep.. Higher floors seem to be q...

Do not stay here if you value your security. My mother stayed here last week and returned to her room to find it open. This was obviously an issue with the cleaning staff who had serviced the room. Despite reporting this to management on two seperate occassions she recieved no follow up from anyone. When she checked out she produced a letter she had written outlining the huge breach of guest security that had occured and the manager deflected the blame to housekeeping explaining that it was outsourced. The security breach alone is a huge concern but the lack of empathy and follow up is hard to believe. No ownership and passing the buck! Serious issues with this Hotel's conduct, guest safety and security is a joke here!!

Room Tip: stay at a hotel that values the safety and security of the guest!

This hotel, which does say that is undergoing construction at the moment - clearly state "These works will not impact on our heritage rooms"

Except, the construction is clearly audible with loud banging, drilling, etc... even on the easter weekend. When we complained to the useless Duty Manager, he said he could do nothing and offered us a room change, but yet couldn't guarantee that we would not be affected by the noise - although they clearly state it.

I am not a fan of venues who LIE just to get people to book.

We heard numerous other people on our level and in the foyer complaining about the noise... yet the hotel couldn't care less.

Room Tip: If you want to be able to relax and sleep during the day while on holidays, then do NOT stay at this...

Frequently stay at this hotel for location and value for money and enjoy the historical charm. Rooms are a bit small for when only in them for a short visit, it is perfect. Car park facility is great as not all places offer this.

The beds were really comfortable and the room was very clean. The hotel is in an excellent location! All staff I encountered were very friendly. I will definitely be returning on my next visit to Melbourne.
