“Sunday Markets”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Really enjoyed the Sunday markets- lots of creative stalls. Great coffee at the outdoor cafe. Just over the bridge from Federation Square and the train station, so it was easy to find. We also went to a show there during the comedy festival- plenty of restaurants close by on the southbank (a pathway alongside the river). Lots of street entertainment - all the buskers are so talented.. make sure you give them a tip!

“Comedy Festival at the Play House!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

My sister bought tickets to see Danny Buoy as part of this year's comedy festival and I was suprised to see the Play House was th venue!!
I've been to the Arts centre lots of time but never the Play House. It is a medium sized, very comfortable theatre that was perfect for the 1 man style show that is Danny Buoy.
We sat in the middle of the circle in A row so had uninterrupted view of the stage without feeling miles away.
Great night.

“Amazing building with many different areas”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013 via mobile

We went To a live show and were amazed by the number of different areas/stages err in the building. The building is large with bars, seating areas and many toilets so everything is covered. Good restaurants near by in South bank for dinning before or after a show,

“Melbourne's centre of performing arts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

This is a complex of several auditoria including the State Theatre and the Concert Hall as well as the Playhouse and an experimental Fairfax studio. Unlike Sydney Opera house, which is all above ground, virtually every thing in this complex is below ground. The acoustics of the 2 auditoria are excellent. It is said that Sydney opera house is brash and showy from the outside but the Melbourne Art Centre is not much to look at from outside it is excellent inside. Especially as it is well located in the Art Precinct of Southbank and National Gallery is next door.
