“A celebration of our multiculturalism”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

The Immigration Museum is a testament to Victoria's rich multicultural heritage. In Victoria we come from more than 200 countries, speak more than 230 languages and follow more than 120 faiths. The varied exhibitions on migration that the museum holds annually attest to this. In addition, the museum also provides historical information on migration. I was able to identify and view the ship my parents travelled on to reach Australia and their names are borne on the walls of the Tribute Garden which will remain as an eternal record of their journey even when we are all long gone.

“Really informative and definitely worth a visit.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

The museum was fantastic and a real eye-opener to the history of not only Melbourne but also Australia. There was an exhibition on Irish immigrants which was really cool. We usually don't stay in museums for too long but we really found this place interesting and engaging.

“Immigration Museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

I have taken many groups of students to this museum and each time I am amazed at how well the history is presented. I particularly liked the photographic display and thought provoking captions abut why people migrate. The children really enjoyed the hands on "living " experiences eg being able to go "inside a ship" to discover what our immigrants had to cope with.

“Right for the Price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

For the $10 admission it was what I expected. The building itself is quite lovely. The exhibits are good for a general overview of immigration history of Australia.

“Australia history in its gritty detail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2013

This was a must-visit for a Melbourne visitor. This place was a down and dirty total discussion of Australia's experience with immigration from its earliest days through its "white only" period through its present immigration experiences. This place opened my eyes to a lot of things, and I benefited greatly from the time spent here.
