“So Friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2009

I organized a night here via their website for my boyfriends birthday. Because it was special I booked a city view apartment. It was beautiful!! Great views and balcony was equipped with furniture. The pool and spa/sauna room was spectacular! Exactly like the pictures. Gym was fully loaded. The room was very clean and spacious. The package came with breakfast. The buffet wasn't very big but did the job. We had dinner in the restaurant also, food was very nice but over priced considering how many other restaurants were so close by. We had a great time, best hotel in Melbourne I've stayed at yet :) I do recommend you book closer to the time by there website because I ended up changing my room for a different package, one which ended up being cheaper with extras! The staff we're friendly and had no trouble changing my package the night before!

I have stayed at Quay West Suites many times over the last few years, It has improved in all area's dramatically. The rooms are beautiful - they have been refurbished & this has made all the difference. The staff at the hotel are all so friendly, professional & eager to assist where they can. A beautiful & comfortable stay yet again... Thank you.

We stayed in Quay West apartments for Friday and Satuday nights in early August 2009. If not dropped off at the front door at ground level, where reception is located, then you can enter the apartments via Plaza level off Southbank. Walk across the bridge near Flinders Street Station, immediately turn left after crossing the bridge, walk past the first eatery/bar (EQ) on the left and then follow the palm trees on the left of the plaza-level walkway and veer left at the entry into the aparttments and take the lift to ground level for reception.

From beginning to end, all the staff were very friendly and efficient. Check in was smooth and we were upgraded for free to a city view Superior One Bedroom suite upon request. We booked via www.wotif.com.au and got the 1 suite for $275 on the Friday and $305 on the Saturday night. The room has a small kitchen with all the usual fittings including microwave, tea and coffee facilities, dishwasher, fridge, clothes washer and a decent range of crockery and cutlery.

The lounge/dining area, altough fairly small, was comfortable with 4 chairs for dining and a 2-seater couch and 2 single seats in the lounge area. We were expecting full cable TV but the room only had about 8 free channels to choose from 2 news, 2 sports Discovery, kids channel (as well as a couple of others) and the usual free-to-air programming. 100 movies were also available on demand, for a cost over 12 hours, but we did not end up watching any. There was a DVD/VCD player in the lounge area and it also plays CDs and MP3s that have been burned to disc. There was a balcony that has 2 seats and a small table and the views overlooking the city were fantastic (we were on the 9th floor).

The bedroom had a firm queen sized bed with a dooner, large wardrobe, ironing board and iron and a docking station for an i-pod so that you can recharge and play through the setup. There was also a TV in the bedroom. The drapes were thick and kept out those unwanted early morning rays.

The room was quiet and we heard nothing from the other rooms. Complementary newspaper is also available.

The bathroom was clean and had a full-sized bath as well as an average-sized shower and decent hair dryer.

Room service is available and the prices seemed reasonable. The minibar was very well stocked and there was a good stock of munchies and filter coffee as well as complementary tea and coffee.

The Concierge (Derek le C) was very responsive and our requests were dealt with very quickly. He also did our online check in for Virgin Blue and printed out the boarding documentation, gratis.

The location is excellent being adjacent to the Gallery, Arts Centre, Southbank eateries, a short walk to the Casino with the city, Flinders Street train station and Australia Square a stone's throw away.

All in all, a great and memorable stay. Highly recommended.

I have stay here at Quay west suites melbourne in southgate the city. I was on 14th floor faceing direct city views-federation sqaure.

It was a one self contain apartment for one adult. I have enjoy my stay 100% without its complaints. I totaly enjoy my stay. First the apartment was just alittle somewhat tiny but yet it was big enough for just one person. It had separate kichen with washing machine - dish washer machine - mini microwave - a medium sizes fridge - there was a toaster... and ather kichen utencils available. there was the seating dine room follow by the tv lounge room with very nice sofas and very confortable... there was a plasma screen there.

TV channels that was available are the following: ABC1

These where whats available to view for free. Also there was a dvd machine with a vcr player available. There was a balcony large enough with slideing doors with views of the whole city.

There was a blue cable ready for high speed internet connection for your laptop if available. There was a intercon on the wall where you can set the tempeture rooms from cool/warm/auto.

In the bedroom the bed was very confortable and a very nice bedroom with another plasma screen available... Very large wardope with spare billows and plankets and iron available. the slide doors of the wardope where made of mirror.
Large window view with city spectacular views... There was a door to get out the balcony.
There was about 2 or 3 different type of billows to choose from. Comming out the bedroom there was a tiny hallways passage entering the bathroom... in there there was the toilet / bathtub... separate shower class doors.... large mirror. the while apartment had carpet while the kichen floor was made of some kind of smooth wood style... bathroom just tiles.

Each both plasma screen comes with each remote control. Plus dvd/vcr machine remote control. There was a IPOD radio beside the bedside with a mini remote control.

It was noicy and or windy onces i open the windows or the balcony doors... but onces i close them the inture apartment was very silent and couldnt hear no sound from the outside at all. The spectacular views of the whole city was 100% picture post card. It was right infront of me. I could not complaint in returning back at all... the apartment was very confortable very ncie i felt like i just own it.

The receptionist downstairs where 100% very polite and very nice to me each time i came in and out of the hotel. Each time i came in they allways say hello with a smile and making you feel very much confrotable and very caring. I dont think no one has been bad at all. They where very nice people. I felt very VIP of the place.

The lobby of the reception is quite large with areas of seating couch areas and books to read for guest and or people waiting to check in or whatever reason. There was 2 lifts available where you must use a special card they give you to swipe the card plus swipe the card to open your room. No keys available at all. In the apartment there was a intercon phone in the toilet and in the kichen. There was 2 telephones in the lounge room and in the bedroom beside the bed.

Know the baddown side of my stay: The utencils where completely not clean at all... i wanted to boil water from a bowl.. the bowl was some what not very clean inside it had marks of food stuck into it..... also the some coffee cups where not very clean at all. The folks and teaspoon and spoon where some what not very clean with skipmarks of food stuck into it. It was gross and i can not stand utencils like that. But i had to wash it myself to clean it and use what i had. But the cleaners who was knocking the door was politely asking me if you wanted anything clean... well they made my bed 100% perfect. I have no idea how they profetionaly make a nice bed style..... they also clean my plate and so on while i left them on the sink.. Yes onces i check they where then very clean.

The towls there was alot of towls available in the bathroom plus 2 swimming towls available in the wardrope of the bedroom too. each time you dont want to use the towls that are been use put them on the floor in the bathroom so that the cleaners takes it away and puts clean onces.

Alternative if you just want total privacy,... just put on the Privacy please sign on the door.. Some how i put that outside the door and when i open the door sometime the sign was stolen from a kid who had a family member staying next door. But thats ok :)

Aniways the hotel is right infront of the city and river. Here are some of the spectacular photos ive taken so you can see the differents. It is totaly worth comming back. I believe it is just one of the ones that this hotel will give you a brilliant spectacular city and river views as a picture post card and you will not complaint the stay and the views.. The views where like everything there for you guarranty.

Allso this hotel as it is a MIRVAC partner you are totaly able to collect QANTAS frequent flyer points with them while your stay. Anyn hotel Mirvac company are able to collect frequent flyer points. During my stay they swipe my card to hold at least 1,000 dollars while it was time to leave the hotel they swipe the card to pay the stays and the amount. There is a charge to use gredit cards.... the extra charge was just onces 20.00 dollars AUD to use credit card.

Well i recommend this hotel and when you stay here make sure you ask for a city and river view and these are depends the type of type rooms available and different price option. I paid just aprox 349.00 AUD per night... yes alittle expensive but worth everything. There are cheaper price options but lower levels of the hotel.... At the price ive stay are from levels 10 to 15th floor.

At level 5th there was the swimming pool.... heated swimming pool.. a mini room for the gym while on the ather side a spa and sauna available.. All free while your staying at this hotel. Times aree from morning and until 10pm i believe 7 days a week.

If you need a taxi go downstairs to the reception lobby where you can order a taxi and you do not need to pay for the call at all. Receptionist lobby are 24/7 with security day and night.

Over all the hotel the room the spectacular views as you see my photos taken and all are 100% the best stay ive ever experience but the downside is that well the price is just alittle too expensive for some but alternative there are much lower price options but depends what your after either its city/river view or east or west view or the back view of the hotel. Feel free to contact Quay west suites melbourne and they will most likely to help you what your after either its 1 bedroom or family or couples,.
I recommend this stay to anyone solo person or even lovers and familys. You will not regret the stay. But be sure to ask for a city and river view because this hotel has a round view from all areas of melbourne.

Thank you

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend away. The hotel and staff were beyond our expectations. From the moment we stepped into the lobby ,we were greeted by a professional yet friendly staff. Our room was comfortable and designed in modern decor with beautiful views overlooking the Yarra. We enjoyed sipping coffee on the balcony in the morning and wine at night. It's a pleasant and short stroll down to the Crowne Casino with several restaurants along the way to choose from. And on Sunday morning there is a market practically right outside your door step. We will definitely be returning again and recommend it to all that wish to stay in the Southbank area.

We stayed in a city view apartment for 3 nights (our honeymoon) in April, and could not fault Quay West ...our only disappointment was that the Jarrah restaurant was closed (due to open a week later).

Room service was efficient, staff just lovely, food great and ...

We also had friends join us for the second night of our say in a 2 bedroomed apartment and they were equally impressed.apartments spacious and well equipped and maintained. Great decor and artwork in rooms.

Excellent location on Southbank, wonderful views of Federation Square and the Yarra and a fun market on Sunday mornings ... always something happening and we took advantage of the free ticket to Eureka Towers.

What really made our stay the best and will make us come back though, was the brilliant staff - I am an ex travel agent and this was the best customer service. I think I have ever experienced from ALL staff!

We thoroughly recommend Quay West and we will be back before the year is finished :-)

We stayed for five nights. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. We stayed on the 11th floor with a glorious view over the city. Restaurants are one the doorsteps. If staying on a weekend I recommend the quality artisans of the southbank markets which are outside the front door of a Sunday morning. Walking distance to just about anywhere in Melbourne from the Crown to the MCG, To Flinders Street an all the CBD shopping, with trams and tourist shuttles from Lygon Street, Docklands and Chapel St from St Kilda Road a mere 200 metres away. Rooms are spacious, modern with all amenities, including an ipod dock in the master suite, foxtel and a washer/dryer which works very nicely to allow you to pop the washing on and its dry in time for when you get home from the daily activities. Breakfast is awesome and staff cannot do enough to make your menu more enjoyable. The bathrobes and slippers add to the luxury and comfort. Amazing quiet rooms on the Melbourne CBD doorstep. I will definately stay there again....My only gripe is the room service menu, but with such an abundance of quality restuarants, I encourage you to get out and sample them as often as you can.
