This is my 3rd time staying at the Westin Melbourne. I keep coming back because the service is good and the location can't be beat.

Try to call and speak to someone ... I got a great package which included parking, two drink vouchers per night and two buffet breakfasts in the Allegro ... it was a fantastic deal!

The one thing ...if they upgrade you to a street facing Swanston ... turn it down ... how often are you really going to look out your window? It's much noisier on that side but still not unbearable.

Stayed for 2 nights, wish we could've spent our entire Aussie vacation there. We're SPG members so look to stay at Starwood properties. Stayed here on points. Great access to the Australian Open and beautiful, huge rooms and bathrooms. Is the Westin we measure all other Westins against.

This has always been one of our favourite hotels in Australia. The service, rooms (esp bathroom) and location are outstanding.
On our recent visit we agree with WhiteChinaCat's comments - we immediately noticed that things just didn't seem quite right. The bed felt different and the bedding wasn't as heavenly smooth. The absolute highlight of the Westin used to be the much touted bed... but no more. We found the new bed too soft and the bedding felt very cheap.
Bring back the 'classic' Westin please - we absolutely loved it.

The Westin is, to put it simply, perfectly perfect in every way.


The bloke and I nipped down for a romantic escape (and I have since stayed again), and found that between the super comfy bed with percale linen, and huge bath (with taps in the middle ;)) it was hard to actually leave the room.


Positives:
* Large king bed (no twins pushed together here!), with beautiful linen.
* Huge bathroom with double bath, rainfall shower and double basin.
* Excellent staff - ask them about their ''interests'' its great to talk.
* Best conceirge in town. John sorted out a couple of things for us and I cannot rate his knowledge highly enough.
* Excellent location for everything that Melbourne can offer.
* Top teabags for the herbalists amongst us :)
* Lovely clean pool and gym area.


Cons:
* Toiletries were awful. Reminded me of something you would find in an IBIS hotel. Shudder.
* The breakfast area can get full very quickly so you may have to wait.
* Wireless keyboard in room did not work, but as they free wireless in lounge area it did not matter.


Tips:
1. Most importantly: Check out the best cocktail bar: www.derraum.com Only fresh ingredients used! this is how cocktails should be.

2. Check out the Bill Henson photos on first floor of the hotel. Stunning work.
