Stayed here for a week for a conference at the Convention Centre. This hotel has been tastefully refurbished in the original art deco style with great attention to detail, including ceiling roses and scrolls on mirrors, window frames and bedheads. The room overlooked a side lane - very quiet, good size & reasonable sized bathroom. The shower was over a quite deep bath, but a handrail assisted with getting in & out.
Very conveniently located on the corner of Spencer Street and Little Collins Street, across the road from Spencer Street Train Staion & airport bus, 15-20 minutes walk from Southbank & the Convention Centre & 10-15 minute walk from Burke Street Mall.
The staff were very polite & helpful. The doorman went out of his way to offer advice about local eateries and attractions & the staff in the breakfast room were exquisitely polite one morning to a group of overseas guests who were incredibly rude about the breakfast service, despite arriving after the advertised closing time of the dining room. Good choice of hot options for breakfast as well as pastries, breads, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, fruit juices and complimentary newspapers.
Room service was very prompt, as was the replacement of a light globe when notifying the front desk that it wasn't working.
Would definitely stay here again next time I'm in Melbourne.
