“Great Location With Big Rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

This hotel is located in the heart of Melbourne, giving you access to CBD very easily. They don't have much room to work with out the front of the hotel and this can be tricky when first arriving by car. But as you are so close to everything, hand your keys over and enjoy walking throughout your stay.
We werw disappointed with the reception service on check in. Having called the night before, asking at check in and calling again later in the day, we had issues trying to check in at 1pm before a show at 2pm. We got a room at 1.30pm and were lucky that we weren't locked out of the show.
The rooms are a great size, lots of floor space and great views. We had issues in the morning trying to use a hair dryer as the power circuit wasn't working. Came back after breakfast and it was fine again. Just old building wiring I guess.
Breakfast was fantastic. Great food and loved the idea of getting your personal coffee order as your sat down.
Overall, we would go back. The location and amenities were top quality.

Lovely clean room and a great location for getting around the city. Was not impressed by having to pay for each and every item we wished to connect to the internet. Most people have at least a laptop or tablet and a phone so just a cash cow for them. It was actually cheaper for me to pay to call Canada with my cell phone than to pay for internet to use Facetime or iMesage which is what we used everywhere else to keep in touch with family at home.

There was a very full buffet breakfast, but as with most buffets most of the hot items were warm at best. If you don't need internet and have breakfast away from the hotel if you like a hot breakfast or just go with the continental breakfast it's perfect in every way.

Just spent two nights in one of the Novotel king room it was clean and very comfortable. Very quiet no noise to really bother you. Friendly staff. We didn't eat here but venture out there are lots of little lane ways with fantastic food and great atmosphere. You can park the car and either walk, cab or jump on the city circle tram.

We've stayed at this hotel on a number of occassions - it's in a fantastic location in the heart of the city and the rooms, staff and other amenities are always first class. This time around, the rooms and staff were just as great as always, but the valet parking left a lot to be desired. At $35 per day (and we had 2 cars) we expect a professional service. However, during this stay we were very disappointed. Each time we arrived back at the hotel there was no where to park and no valet in sight. We were left to double park on Collins St each time and go in search of of the valet staff. Quite obviously, they were using the limited parking spaces out the front of the hotel as car parks, not as a drop off point. On one occassion we were left double parked 10 mins with no valet to be found. When checking out the next morning, one car arrived, however the second car had been temporarily 'misplaced'. We waited 30 mins or so before the valet asked us to again confirm the type of car and rego. Eventually the car was located and we were on our way. The city is full of great hotels, so based on our last experience, the next time we need a CBD hotel with valet parking, we'll unlikely stay here.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a Collins St view - the rooms are surprisingly quiet, but offer a great view of...

Thank you for loyalty and writing this review. I was concerned to read about the disappointing service which you encountered on your last visit with our valet parking. As a return guest you know this is not the usual high standard of service we provide and I sincerely apologise. With the upgrade of our Concierge, Reception and Restaurant-Bar areas we have taken extra measures to minimise any interruptions for our guests. I am very sorry we failed you and I will investigate with my team what happened. Thank you for writing that otherwise you had a great stay. We would gladly welcome you back and hope you will give us the opportunity in the future so you can experience the professional service you are used to.
Sincerely,
Hayden Hughes

This hotel was right in the middle of all the action. Good location next to shops and food. Would stay there again because of the location only. Bad point: My reservation was lost. They charged my credit card twice and couldn't tell my why when I questioned them. I had to wait a while for a room after a long flight. All the staff were helpful. Room service was good, no complaints about that. Convention centre is good for conferences, very spacious but the buffet food was not up to par. I went to get sushi next door instead.

Stayed for a short family vacation 13th-18th Feb. Fantastic location with all attractions within an easy walk - or alternatively a taxi rank outside when needed. Free tram an easy walk away also which saved us needing to buy Myki cards. Stayed in a room with 2 double beds and we were all very comfortable. Staff were attentive and friendly with advice or assistance whenever needed. Scored a deal with buffet breakie included and this was superb! Great shopping (or window shopping) with Block Arcade right next door and I think we counted 5 chocolate shops within a two minute walk......very important for that sugar boost to keep shopping and exploring this great city. Thanks for a wonderful stay..... we hope to be back soon!
