“Renovations complete, its a decent choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Our second time staying here, but first after the renovations. Location is Spring St - so its top end of the CBD, closed to trains and trams. A short walk down into the mall & handy to all things Melbourne and being on Spring St, it’s not right next to a thumping club/pub.

Room was comfortable, with a view out on to the park. Funky print of Flinders St Train station adorned the wall above the bed. The chair was a bit hard to sit in, so didn’t bother. Bed was very comfortable. A bonus is late checkout of 11am, extended to 2pm on Sundays if you ask.

The staff were helpful and friendly, even if it was after midnight when we arrived. Housekeeping (the mystery crew) appeared to do a good job, the room was tidy and bathroom cleaned.

Having stayed there before, I wasn’t disappointed and would go back again, but my only gripe (and this applies to lots of hotels not just this one), the bathroom floods when you are in the shower. Not enough to go into the rest of the room, but enough that you waste a full size towel on the floor.

But would I go back – yes. Its great location, pleasant staff and late check out make up for the bathroom.

Room Tip: Ask for a park view room

Friendly, helpful staff, great room looking over the gardens and such a great base from which to explore the city. Walk with ease to inner CBD and explore the myriad of quaint lane ways and arcades. Close to Flinders St station and all trams. Excellent.

Great place to stay only a short walk from the inner city and very close to federation square. Only downfall is ridiculously small room my mum and i were in a twin share which was meant to have king single beds they were only single and there wasn't much room to move around them but they were really comfortable i do give them that. The bathroom was also so small you only had enough space to stand upright. This is something you can let slide if you aren't spending much time in your room like us. There is a huge gap under the entry door that let in a lot of noise since we were located right by the lift. Housekeeping regularly only left us one face washer which was slightly annoying. Front desk staff very helpful and friendly gave us lots of useful information on trams. So good that they are happy to hold your bags if you have checked out or can't yet check in. Breakfast is good value but you can find some really nice little cafes nearby.

Room Tip: We only got to look at room overlooking the gardens was nice to have sun come in and a view. Near th...
