“Nice Hotel - not great - nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2013 via mobile

We stayed two nights in this hotel. Very comfortable. Well located. Pleasant staff. Good quality linen & reasonable bathroom amenities. It was a good basic hotel. Nothing special but good value for money. I would've rated it higher - just one problem. The room stank of smoke. I'd booked a no smoking room and was given a no smoking room - but clearly a previous guest had been smoking and it had permeated every nook & cranny of this room. When I book a non smoking room it's on the basis that previous guests have not smoked (I already know I don't smoke). Hotels need to levy massive penalties on guests who smoke In a no smoking room to prevent this.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. I sincerely apologise that your room smelt of smoke, this hotel is a non-smoking hotel. I am following up with my housekeeping team as to why this wasn’t reported to us after they had serviced the apartment.
We hope that we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel on your next trip.
Kind Regards

,,,,,if you're after great location, reasonable rates and friendly service then the Adina Apartments at 88 Flinders Street is the best place to stay!

Six of us stayed here over the weekend for two nights in the 3 bedroom apartment and we were really impressed with the layout (2 bathrooms & another powder room) and how spacious the rooms were. The beds are really comfy and the views are awesome.

Everyone says the same thing about location - and it's true! If you are in Melbourne for concerts, shows, shopping and pubs - then this hotel is so convenient to cover them all. Trams right outside and train station just down the street.

A credit to Adina is the staff on front desk who was so easy to work with; allowing us to leave our bags, or leave a spare key for another friend who was turning up later whilst we were out, giving us directions, calling a taxi, etc, etc. However, the only downside of our stay at Adina was the housekeeping - smudgy dishes, cup marks left on coffee tables and someone else's hair on towels in the ensuite. The worst part was the housekeeping guy who needed to change our bedding configuration from a king into two singles - he smelt of body odour SO bad that the smell didn't leave the whole apartment for a long time and we had to air the bedroom out for an hour afterwards! Then the next day we could smell the same stench in the lift. It was really offensive :(

I would definitely stay here again, especially with a large group or a couple families. It made our girls trip a pleasant experience!

We stayed in the 3 bedroom penthouse. There was 6 of us. It was extremely roomy. Spacious living/kitchen/dining. 10 minute walk to everywhere we wanted to go - City & Arts Centre. Pre-stay I had to contact the hotel a few times and they were always friendly and prompt with their replies, as was the reception desk when we arrived. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: There appears to be 2 Adina Hotels on Flinders Street, so make sure you know which one you are going...

We had the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment for 8 nights from 14/11/2013 to the 22nd. The apartment was fabulous with excellent views over the city. The Apartment was very modern, spacious and clean. The Hotel was easy walking distance to all attractions Bus and Tram stops nearby. Staff were very accommodating, friendly and helpful. We would stay there again as it was very handy to everything.

Room Tip: We were on the 11th floor overlooking the city. Early morning trains were a little noisy

The hotel is located just a few walkable blocks from Flinders St. station, one block from the Federation Square location from which tour buses depart and return, a short block from Flinders Lane, with its variety of restaurants and bars, and on the free tram line which circles the CBD (and also the hop-on hop-off bus route, for which there is now a $5. charge). On Flinders St. right next door is a long-opening-hours IGA. An apt. at the front provides great views of the parkland across the river (though also of the railway tracks!). The one-bedroom apartment in which I stayed was spacious and comfortable, though with a few tiny oddities: all kinds of toiletries provided, e.g., but no kleenex, and in the kitchen all sorts of dishes and utensils but no small knife (only huge ones) and no small pot (only a big one) in which to boil water for coffee or tea. (The oddities did not detract, however, from the overall comfort and usefulness of the apt.) The microwave was a bit ancient and low-wattage, but worked. Staff members were friendly and helpful, and knowledgeable about touristic matters such as tours and trams, though not about internet cafes (there turns out to be one, however, if you need it, a few blocks away on the street running up from the station). Construction next door currently makes it impossible for taxis to pull up in front, which can cause problems if you want the hotel to call one for you, or even if you want to flag one down yourself; the drivers see the impediments and give up. (Warning--Melbourne taxis are NOT easy to get, at least on Flinders St.; and if called by the hotel, they may not turn up. Allow yourself plenty of time to get anywhere if you want to go there by taxi. NB Skybus service to and from the airport now provides no-chage hotel drop-off and pick-up, from and to its CBD terminal; again, allow yourself plenty of time.)

We stayed in a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. The unit had fantastic views, day and night. In the evening the lights of the city was amazing. A short walk to Federation square and transporation right out the front door. There was construction going on next door, but it did not bother us at all. Unit had everything you needed. Nice kitchen huge living room area and very comfortable beds. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I highly recommend this property.

Room Tip: ask for one facing Finders street for a great view.

We stayed at the Adina for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment and it was huge! Rooms were a good size and bathrooms were very functional. Massive kitchen/dining/lounge area. The location was also brilliant. Short walk to federation square and public transport. We really loved the 'apartment/hotel experience' as you get the best of both worlds with all the modern conveniences of being at home but with hotel services including concierge and room service. Would definitely recommend if you like 'apartment/hotels' and want to be right in the heart of the CBD.
